We signed Ray to help us space the floor and we've turned him into a dribble-penetrator.
He's also very reluctant to shoot the 3pt shot when given the opportunity. This guy used to relish a hand in his face every time he got the ball beyond the arc.
I won't even get into his defense
What do you guys think about Ray so far? Is it Ray or is it the way the coaches are using him?
If this the Ray we're getting, we're better off making a trade while he still has value.

Re: Ray Allen
Mario is doing the same exact thing. Just shoot the 3 pointer. An occasionally dribble-drive is fine, but only after the defender plays up on you after a few made shots. You can even see Ray shift back into a 3 point marksman towards the end of games where he shoots without hesitation. Him and Mario need to do that all game.
Basketball is funny like that though, guys always try to do things they can't instead of sticking to their specialties. Josh Smith jumpshooting, Mario trying to be a slasher, Mike not shooting, etc.

I've never wanted to punch someone in the face so badly. Really hoping to run into him at a game one day. I won't hesitate.

Re: Ray Allen
I'm not in favor of trading Ray. At all. The Boston trade with Memphis that fell through is the reason why he is here. It'd be terrible to go back on our word like that to a classy guy like Ray. Plus, the Heat org. is all about family. Riley and Arison would never do that. He has become a part of the family.
It is the way the coaches are using him. We are not running plays for him off of screens or anything. I don't mind him using dribble-penetration once in a while to set others up or get past his man, but that seems to be the only way we are using him right now: as a point guard.

I cringe every time Ray takes a guy off the dribble into a load of traffic...I think the whole "freedom" style of play thing has really gone to his head and Spoelstra does nothing about it. I just know this cant happen in the playoffs.

Not just him, Rio too, heck even Battier turns down threes to drive to the basket at times.

I like him and am glad we signed him. I think we signed him to be more than just a 3 point shooter to be honest. I'm sure spo likes that hes mixing it up. Something jj and Mike don't do.

true. ray only took 2 three pointers today. the best three point shooter in the game should be taking way more per game. and im not sure why spo is letting him handle the ball and even driving to the basket.

Ray is fine, he has very little to do with what's really wrong with this team. he's doing his job.
