It's far better defensively. Gay is just fine on defense and MWP at the 4 is a very effective defender as evidenced by L.A.'s huge run in the 4th against LAC.
Not saying your idea was cute, was referring to the rumors or thoughts that we could even trade for Gay, that's damn near next to impossible considering a 3rd team wouldn't want to be on the ass end of getting jobbed.

I agree with MWP staying at the 4, it's his best spot at this point in his career. And I didn't say Gay was horrid, but at the same time he's not a master lock either I've seen guys torch that ass good. But he would be better for us in terms of quickness and read and recovery on defense. Bottom line is this is a dream teaser, our only trade chip is a 19 million dollar waste and I'm pretty damn sure nobody is going to bite at it.

Have some faith. Dwight is likely out versus Denver. Pau is going to be showcased with Steve Nash running P and Rs with him all game. I could see a huge game for Pau coming up.

The only reason Pau is playing like **** is because he's being made to do something hes not used to or has ever done. Since when was Pau a three point shooter? Pau needs to be down low on the block not shooting threes. Instead the Lakers have Dwight down there when he has no post game and is turn over prone. I think Memphis would take a Pau for Gay trade. If the Lakers are trying to make Pau a shooter then why not try to get Dirk. The only other player I would consider is Josh Smith because how much more athletic he makes the Lakers

Reports came out today that Memphis is exploring trade possibilities for Rudy Gay,they don't want to be over the cap next year.

Minnesota is still hot for Gasol according to sources their coach Adelman views Gasol as a perfect fit next to Love he loves Gasol passing ability.

Why not make it a 3way trade every team gets what they want.

LA trade: Gasol/Ebanks
Memphis trade: Gay
Minnesota trade: Kirlenko/Dwill/Barea

LA gets: Gay
Memphis gets: Kirlenko/Dwill
Minnesota gets: Gasol/Ebanks

pg:Nash/Duhon/Blake
sg:Kobe/Meeks/Morris
sf:Gay/Metta
pf:Hill/Jamison
c:Dwight/Sacre

Minnesota wouod improve dramatically and gasol would be a good fit there. Rudy Gay would fit much better with this team....but I do not see how memphis gets better without gay.

They get better because Kirilenko fits the role better and financially he's a better choice for that team. Gay is a nice fit for L.A. the more that I think about it. He can run, shoot the 3, and can take the scoring load off of Kobe. An athletic 3/4 that changes team speed.

Memphis will NEVER trade Gay for Pau.
Dallas will NEVER trade Dirk for Pau.
Atlanta will NEVER trade Smith for Pau.

No. If Memphis trades Gay, it's to get under the luxury tax this year and going forward. Pau makes more than Rudy this year and next - not to mention Pau would be coming off the bench behind Memphis's allstar front court.

Gay is really athletic. He would also develop by watching Kobe and Nash play.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!
