Texans vs. Bengals NFL Playoffs 1/5/13 Round One
For the past few years a question has been asked around Houston: What to do with the Astrodome?
It has been revealed over the past several months of the horrific conditions of the once "Eighth Wonder of the World" are worse than most realized. The County seems hellbent and determined to hold onto it and not allow private investors to modify it in any way. Many people (I am not one of them) believe that they need to let go of history, implode the old structure and move on.
Well...it turns out that there was a massive implosion down there off of Kirby, but it was not the old Astrodome...it was the neighboring Reliant Stadium which saw the 2012 Houston Texans snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in epic fashion!
The Texans had multiple chances to lock up home field advantage in the AFC, and blew each and every one of them. Now the 12-4 Texans will only host one home game. Instead of a week off to rest the players, our boys down on Kirby will open the 2013 NFL post season with a home game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The date is January 5th. The time is 3:30 PM CST.
Lost in the dismal collapse of the last several weeks of the season is the fact that this 2012 Houston Texans team has put up their best season in their short history. J.J. Watt emerged as the premier defensive player in the NFL and cornerstone of this franchise for many years to come. The woefully underrated Andre Johnson had one of the best years of his storied career, proving that there is no hyperbole in the name "Andre, The Great." It will not mean much if they cannot do anything with it, tho.
And they will have a chance to do something with this on Saturday, January 5th at 3:30 PM down there at Reliant Stadium.
Nothing is given to anyone on a silver platter in the NFL. The Texans failures at the end of the season are already in the past. Now there is only the first game of an uphill battle.
Back in 1994/1995 the sporting world saw one of the most impressive playoff performances in history when the 6th seeded Houston Rockets fought their way past adversity to take down the NBA's top 4 teams on their way to an NBA title. They did not have Home Court Advantage.
They didn't allow that to be an excuse.
The playoffs begin on Saturday, January 5th at 3:30 PM on NBC.
Make history, Texans.

Texans should win. No ifs, ands, or buts. Texans is just a better team, and I just can't see how the Texas slip this one.

Great thread Mr. E.
I can imagine Brown, Myers, Schaub and the rest of the offense having a bad game. Or two.
Three in a row?
No, that ends this weekend.
Will it be enough?
We shall see.

Well the whole the team has been bad since the Bears game and even worse since the Pats game. The offense playing worse since the Pats game. It just does not go back 2 games but far more. We have been going the wrong way for a long time now

I predict A.J. Green will have a field day against Brandon Harris. Yup, Brandon Harris. That's who Wade will have lined up across from Green, just like he had him lined up across from Reggie freaking Wayne last game. Because I mean, why wouldn't you put Brandon Harris on their best receiver?

Fair enough. Typically you can rely on those guys I mentioned to not suck ass, specifically Brown and Myers, but even they have been terrible lately.
I think as a team overall they basically peaked with the Baltimore game, and have been disappointing ever since. I'd expect that from the defense with the injuries, but holy crap the offense has been awful, outside of Andre of course.
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

Re: Texans vs. Bengals NFL Playoffs 1/5/13 Round One
I'm thinking Saturday is going to be our statement game
I think well win, but well either show the last few weeks were a fluke and we are moonwalking to a superbowl win or that we don't stand a chance against New England/Denver if we struggle
Ya I know this is an obvious assumption
I still need a new texans jersey cuz i only have demecos:( and in one of my money fantasy leagues I won 400..who should I buy? I don't want jjs andres schaubs or fosters. I want tates because he's number 44, but I doubt he will be here too much longer...Daniels? Manning? Cushing? Mercilius?

Kubs gonna run the ball when the Texans are down 30-10...Shwab going to throw a 3 INT and a pick 6. AJ Green will get 180 yds and 2 TDs.
Somehow Texans win 34-33

Yes. It is incredibly frustrating watching them have to settle for so many FG's. They obviously cannot get away with that against the Patriots next week.
Having said that, other than penalties and the one terrible decision by Schaub on the interception, they played much better today. I thought the defense played great, but this game should never have been as close as it was. They have to do better with their red zone offense and cutting out some of the penalties to have a chance going forward.
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

Oh, and the O-Line played great today. Let's hope they keep that up.
