It's definitely 4 at 12 mil total. ESPN was wrong as usual by stating it was 3 yrs.SlavaMedvedenko wrote:Also I believe its 4 years not 3.

Leaves a year without Nash. We'll probably have Kyrie Irving by then, so whatever.

Re: Trade Pau - or fire MDA instead?
MDA doesn't get fired this season probably because bringing on a new coach would bring the same excuses (no training camp, adjusting to new offense or defensive system). Pau looks like the scapegoat given the fact that he isn't playing well in the current system, but he also has a huge contract. If there are any trades that happen, I think it's probably to tweak the bench. Lakers have some expiring contracts that could come in handy.

Who would they replace dantoni with? And would there be any change with a new coach this late anyway?
As for pau's value, won't it just continue to dip at this rate? At this point he is starting to contribute to losses for a variety of reasons.
Fire a coach, or revamp the roster to fit the coaches style, or stand pat and hope for the best...
There is a career of precedent of pau needing to be inside, there is also a career of precedent of mda being inflexable and failing to win with his style , even when his roster was near perfectly suited .
So rebuild with a new roster, in Kobe's twilight, or find a coach who's style compliments the roster, especially the aging super star.
Or just see what happens.
What would you do if you were in charge?

If the Lakers signed him to a guaranteed 3 year deal with no buyout clause they're not too bright imho. Especially after seeing the MDA experiment go down in flames in NYC.
I don't think the hiring itself was so bad but being unable to get away from such a hiring without it costing an arm and a leg is just poor management imho.
Based on the last few years of personnel decisions on and off the court, I'm not seeing much " brightness"...I'm seeing cheap power moves... But not smart ones...

Though I concede the smartest move at this point, is to keep everyone unless something fantastic comes along trade wise. Remember Howard could bolt 7 months from now, and still having pau would make that hurt less...

Lets be really, Mike is not getting fired. The management would get destroyed if they went out and fired Mike now
As opposed to wasting the final years of Kobe's career and screwing up any chance of re-sign Dwight?

If they are worried about looking foolish ... that ship already sailed.

Re: Trade Pau - or fire MDA instead?
I think we rushed in this coaching search. I mean if we didn't want to take the Phil Jackson route why couldn't we look at Jerry Sloan? The guy is perfect for this team. He excels with big men and PGs like Steve Nash. Did management really think Nash was really incapable of learning something new?
At this point its like this team just keeps going in circles and it's very depressing. I was just thinking about what could of, should of, would of..but didn't happen...

I never thought Sloan was a good fit... Too much of a hard nose and stubborn.
But maybe that's exactly what this team needs... Some teams need a coach they hate/fear more than each other to come together. Probably won't work at the NBA level though.

MB should be hired as a defensive coach, like Woodson was in NY last year.
