I have a good hunch. Could you even imagine Goldberg trying to say his name?

Paul Daley out of the bellator card and actually the entire tournament after assaulting someone in a bar. Barred from the U.S. as of now, and may face up to two years in prison.

Re: Bellator Fighting Championships - Season 7
Bellator is starting to look like Strikeforce lately with all their dopey moves and last minute cancellations. Bad timing for all this bad pub.

Re: Bellator Fighting Championships - Season 7
Bellator will now switch to disclosing brackets before their tourneys.

Their first example involved by far their worst tourney.
I personally didn't care if there was matchmaking previously because you still needed 3 wins, 1-2 of high quality, in order to win the thing. And the matchmaking allowed for a more attractive style match-up in the 2nd round if possible. But it's kind of nice to have a visual of the fighter's path and I like the layout.

The UFC can still make another, bigger offer. Get comfy, this story is far from over. The real question is why anyone would sign with a smaller org like Bellator and also agree to a contract where they can match and hold them hostage if they want to leave when their contract is up. It makes no sense that Bellator would have the kind of leverage to force a guy like Alvarez to sign a contract with a stipulation like that.

Oh really? UFC can up the ante? LOL, Eddie and Bjorn are splitting the money.

No they can't up the ante. That's wishful thinking on his part. That's obviously not how the rfa process works. That's the ufa process. Zuffa had one shot, and their offer wasn't big enough, apparently. The only way they can possibly still extract Eddie is if Bellator didn't legitimately match the terms. They said they have however.
Bellator had some leverage with Eddie when he signed because they offered 175K for the tournament. Then he was making 100K per win. That's what Edgar was receiving for base pay, as UFC champ. I can't speak to the bonuses, but that was the guaranteed money. So Eddie was getting a good chunk of change.
Eddie theoretically could have waited a few months until he became a UFA, but obviously it wasn't worth it to him. He has a relationship with Bellator and Bjorn. He knew what he was getting into. It sounds like as it ended up he preferred UFC because of the PPV points which were much weaker in Bellator when they go that route, but it wasn't going to be easy for him to go either being with Bellator from the ground up and then leaving right before they hit Spike.
Hopefully Eddie gets Chandler right off the bat. And unlike most others it seems I think Bellator has more to offer as opponents than Chandler and Hawn. Those are just the dominant LW's. You don't need to be dominant outside UFC to be any good. Bellator's LW's beat each other, but you can see they're talented by watching them. This last tourney didn't work out well because of the lame duck and Tirloni robbery. But this next tourney looks very deep and whoever emerges earned it.

They need to teach fighters how to compose a sentence. **** it, just a general social media class. They all seem to have passive-aggression down pat but little else. They`re a strange bunch.

I think when the dust settles Alvarez ends up in the UFC. No telling how long that will be though.

Did I read it right that he could wait it out for a year and then come? Would it violate his bellator contract if he just coached a tuf in the meantime?

Alvarez and Maynard coaching the first women's season of TUF. Make it happen Uncle Dana.

Mike Richman vs. Mitch Jackson (19-2) in some Minnesota on Minnesota crime at Bellator 88. RZ, do you have any opinions on Jackson?

Re: Bellator General Discussion and Info
I don't know much. IIRC he's a classic Minnesota mma-er though. Really good wrestler and good submission defense. Experienced striker but I don't think he's knocking people out or anything. From what I do know, I'd favor Richman. Glad to see him getting a shot in a bigger show though.
edit: Just checked out his record, has a lot more submissions than I would have guessed. Diverse subs too, cool.

Re: Bellator General Discussion and Info
Blagoi Ivanov is making a return to MMA less than a year after he was stabbed in the heart, in a coma, and was expected to die. Physically he looks OK, mentally he still looks kind of loopy to me. Then again I didn't see interviews with him before. If he can make a successful return, that bolsters Bellator's much maligned HW division significantly.

Heart over head.
It was pretty telling when the UFC tried to change their offer to include 10 more thousand guaranteed and a guaranteed PPV in April. You don't get two shots at an offer sheet.
The court case isn't until tomorrow, but an MMA lawyer's reading of the two side's cases makes it sound like there's a high probability he'll end up in Bellator.
Adam Swift @AdamMSwift
My cursory reading of Bellator-Alvarez court filings suggest fans can start getting excited about Chandler-Alvarez II.
Yes Alvarez could sit out if he loses in court, but since he went thru the matching process could be length of new contract (40 months) instead of 1 yr.
