It's not like Cousins is expiring. He's under contract until 2015. Trading him for that package that Ainge is trying to bully them into taking is what I'd call losing him for nothing.

then you have a strange definition of nothing. They've had so many problems with him, it's hard to imagine them being able to keep him (or the team honestly, but that's not what we're discussing).

#RUMORED TRADE: Gasol, Bradley, Sullinger, Terry, picks to Kings; Thornton, Brooks, Hayes, Robinson to Lakers; Cousins, Garcia to Celtics.

saw this on the laker's board, no sources

That Kings team was horrible long before Cousins came along. Getting rid of him won't guarantee even partial success. Rick Adelman and Chris Webber aren't walking back through that door unless they are bringing the Timberwolves roster and the TNT/NBATV camera crew.

If the Lakers can get rid of Gasol for anything these days then they win that trade.

ok, what are you talking about? Adelman, Webber, The Twolves, TNT, and NBA TV are all new things you've brought in this post, so I don't know what you're referencing here.

In terms of cousins being a flight risk, the bad blood he must have with coaching/management/ownership would be contributing, as well as maybe making the team look riskier to someone wanting to buy the team.

I'm referencing to the last time the Kings were relevant as a winning team. Before Webber was a All-Star with Sacramento he clashed with coaches in Golden State and had a bevy of off-court problems in Washington. I say that to say that Cousins remind me a lot of Webber during the early years of his career and I don't think the Kings should part with him unless they are getting a surefire All-Star in at least his late prime or multiple 1st round draft picks. Otherwise they will dwell in mediocrity even longer. If they are making a deal with the Celtics they shouldn't settle for anything less than Rondo. If they are making a deal with Orlando they shouldn't settle for anything less than Vucevic with Afflalo and a 1st rounder. If they are making a deal with us they shouldn't settle for anything less than Biyombo with two 1st rounders. The fact that they let the Cousins locker room stuff and rumors get out of hand shows how poorly ran of an organization they have become. The Kings would be fools not to see that they are the team with real leverage. The Celtics are more desperate than the Kings are right now being that they are an tapped out, over aged veteran squad with 3 All-Stars currently on the outside of the playoff picture looking in.

yeah but why the wolves? they aren't even that good

oh I just got it, he's the coach and webber works at TNT. haha, sorry went over my head

I think the celtics could get a first round picks for bradley, sullinger, and maybe bass+fab melo to a team needed bench depth. They could bring in a third team as well if they need to.

Also the kings ARE fools, as evidenced by everything that has happened there since like 2006. I don't think they can keep Cousins when its time for him to choose where he goes. He will likely be the premier free agent that summer, and I don't even have to know what summer it is!

Jeff Green can't be traded until Jan 15th, so that's not happening in a hurry.

The other seems plausible though.
They get a legit big in Gasol, a prospect who has impressed a bit so far in Sullinger and great young defensive guard in Bradley. Not saying its worth Cousins, but its not bad.

Edit* I keep reading articles saying a deal could happen anytime soon and naming Green as being involved.
Do they not bother researching or is there a loop hole I don't know about?

I've been reading the sacto and boston boards for a couple weeks and never saw that. if they said it, they were probably a stupid fan and not representative of the board

sullinger was looking like a top 5 pick before the back injury. I'm sure he was sought after on any lottery board. If you trust his back, you like him a lot. but not that much!

I like how any contact with a ref is an immediate suspension but joey crawford was practically groping everyone in our game last night. I really hate that guy
