Around the NFL - Divisional Round

I'm gonna be in Vegas. Seeing:

Atlanta -1 (up to -3 places)
San Fran -3
Denver -9
New England -9.5

I'd be surprised if we don't have Manning/Brady.

Chris Clemons tore an ACL today. HUGE injury for the Seahawks.

Wow. Not to celebrate an injury, but that cant be considered anything other than a boon for the other 3 NFC teams left...

Not looking ahead, Niners game will be very tough but I don't really care who wins Seattle v. Atlanta. Great to be at Lambeau but our team loves domes.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I'd probably go ATL, GB, Baltimore, Houston. I think ATL and Packers win out right and 9 and 9.5 is just too many points, though I wouldn't be surprised if they both covered.

RG3 looks like he has a torn ACL. The drama surrounding this Shanahan presser is ridiculous. He just mentioned Adrian Peterson's comeback.

Atlanta only giving 1 is nutty. Not nutty as in I think they dominate but number one team in the NFC facing a rookie QB at home and no respect.

Not like they've earned it after their last couple postseason games. TB also beat them at home while they played their starters in Week 17

If the Falcons were to get beat handily, I wonder if Mike Smith might get canned in a Marty Schottenheimer-like fashion. Good/dominant regular season performance but total choke job in the playoffs.

I doubt it, but it is definitely possible.

For the record, I would slightly rather play @ATL than have to face that Seattle D again.

I will say that injury to Clemons is a big blow to Seattle's D though. Losing a pass rusher like that makes their defense less intimidating.

Clemons is a huge loss, no doubt. But those big dirty physical corners, Earl Thomas and Bruce Irvin still send chills down my spine. Makes it more manageable for our offensive line though, for sure.

Yeah, I agree that's its a big loss, but I did notice that after he left the game the Seahawks were still getting ridiculous pressure anyway. I could be wrong, but I do feel like the thing about the Seahawks rush that sets it apart from other teams pass rushes is that they get above average to great pressure from every guy in their rotation, whereas other teams maybe have 2 or 3 guys that are the keys to their pass rushes and if u remove one or more of their key guys their pass rush is severely affected. I hope I'm wrong about that, but that is kind of my uneducated opinion for whatever it's worth...

The key to defending Green Bay is getting home with your front four. Bring any more than that and Rodgers lights you up. He was really only one of two pass rushing threats on that line. If we play Seattle I like our chances a lot more now. Remember, the dude had four sacks against Green Bay this year.

I think Seattle beats Atlanta somewhat handily.

I guess the good news is that if losing Clemons affects the Seahawks pass rush in a hugely negative fashion then they probably can't get past the Falcons to play us if we win anyway right?

Yeah, he was the biggest threat. The other 4 went to Irvin and Mebane, so they will get our focus now and they won't have the luxury of Clemons making their lives easier.

That's still a group that can hurt us, but less daunting without Clemons.

Excited to see a Manning/Brady showdown. Hoping the Hawks' can take the Falcons down, feeling pretty good about the Packers in SF. Should be an awesome weekend of football.

Shanahan should be fired. Leaving a clearly injured and ineffective RGIII in that game was monumentally stupid.

Of course, Shanahan is also the guy who sent in Terrell Davis when Davis told him he couldn't see.

I would have taken him out sometime in the 2nd half. He was obviously injured and wasnt even effective throwing the ball. When you have a competent back up and a good RB, there was no reason to leave him.

That said, I would honestly be surprised if he had a full ACL tear. Considering he was able to get up and still walk around, I would be surprised. I could be wrong, but I dont think that is the norm. I think the best they can hope for is a sprain, hyper-extension, or a partial tear (most likely imo).
