Re: 2013 Record Prediction/Team Expectations
Still standing behind my prediction of Champs but maybe go first in the west now. This team looks better each game and with two-four sixth man of the year candidates. Prob Bledsoe will get it and him and DJ will be up for most improved. I have very high expectations this year.

Re: 2013 Record Prediction/Team Expectations
I watched that Simmons clip in disgust the other day. Blake and DJ don't like playing with Paul because he's too slow for them?
I think they care more about winning than running. Blake doesn't even like the name Lob City. DJ wears number 6 in honor of Bill Russell, the greatest winner of them all. That was just a foolish comment. I'm sure they'd like to go back to playing undisciplined basketball and only winning 20-30 games.
With the bench, I could see how some people (critics, non-Clipper fans, etc.) would be skeptical of it's make-up. Odom and Crawford both had less than stellar 2011-12 campaigns. Barnes did not show up in the playoffs after dealing with injuries. Grant Hill is 40. Chauncey is coming off of Achilles surgery. Bledsoe is still erratic and prone to turnovers. Turiaf and Hollins are Turiaf and Hollins. Some people feel that not re-signing K-Mart or Reggie will be a big blow. Preseason is preseason, but it left me with a lot of confidence.
Guys are used to getting a lot of minutes or having a lot of opportunities to make plays. Vinny will have to manage the minutes and it will be tricky, but everybody knows what the goal is. Everybody that signed onto this team this offseason knows the quality of depth of the roster and especially at their own positions. Sacrifice will be the key. There's not a championship team that does not sacrifice in some way or another. I think that some of the older guys will appreciate not having to put in as much work (i.e. heavy minutes and b2b's) every single night. For some, they'll probably be satisfied to finally be on a winning roster that has high aspirations. As long as we're winning, then there's probably less to be said. Winning can cure all.

I listened to the part 1 and disagreed with a few, but I had to turn off part 2 in disgust.

50+ wins and play at least 6 games in second round of playoffs. hope we can save the fakers for the WCF and not before... 7 game series at staples against them is pretty much all 7 games away from home.
funny...im raiders, dodgers clippers too.
sick
hey it took me more than a month to see this post, glad there is another clipper-raider-dodger combo fan!!!

Dang I missed this before the season started. I could have swore I posted, but maybe that was last year's thread. LOL. Pretty sure I would have picked low/mid 50's like most people here- extrapolating from last year would be 50 on the dot.

Simmons is an interesting case, not only is he not a former player but he took a roundabout way to becoming even an analyst with his sports/comedy/movie references schtick.
I think he's basically as good as any super-fan, but because that's what he was before, he also has his limits. Generally good things come out of his mouth, but it's still weird to see him on TV discussing NBA with the 'big boys'.
I wasn't going to bother watching the clip since it was going to be 20/20 hindsight, but the comments interested me. Most of it was fine I guess, pretty generically reasonable concerns about the roster, Odom, etc. But he totally went off the deep end on Paul and Blake/DJ. That was totally out of left field. And from a guy who pretty sure has Clipper season tix.

Re: 2013 Record Prediction/Team Expectations
Bump!
A lot of people were close, but I don't think I saw anyone with exactly 56 wins.
I was 1 off with a prediction of a 55-27 record. That could have been true tonight, but I'm so thankful to be wrong.
I also thought that we would be 3rd in the west, but also thought that San Antonio would be in the 3-5 range. Close. A couple people have predicted a Pacific Division Championship.
Who would have thought that there would be 5 teams in the west with 56+ wins? That's just insane. The Western conference had 6 teams with 54+ wins in 2008 (Lakers - 57, Hornets & Spurs - 56, Suns & Rockets - 55, Jazz - 54). You have to go back to the 1998 season to see 5 teams with 56+ wins in a conference (Jazz - 62, Sonics & Lakers - 61, Spurs & Suns - 56).

dunno what that'll mean for the playoffs but I think this team is gonna kill it in the regular season.
all is good here.
but i guess no real points for not having an exact record posted

not even mad about saying we could get to 60.
you never can predict when JJ s gonna bump knees with a CP.

Re: 2013 Record Prediction/Team Expectations
I'd say the West ends up:
1) San Antonio (60-62 wins)
2) LA Lakers (58-60 wins)
3) OKC (57-59 wins)
4) LAC (53-55 wins)
So much for the Lakers, but I was close. At least I got the Seeding right. Denver is OKC, OKC is SA, and SA is LAL.
