While their franchise-record winning streak came to an end earlier this month, the Los Angeles Clippers are hoping to keep another impressive run going a little longer.

The Clippers will try to extend their franchise-record home winning streak to 13 on Wednesday night when they host the struggling Dallas Mavericks.

Los Angeles (27-8), which owns the NBA's best record by a half-game over Oklahoma City, won a club-record 17 straight overall before back-to-back road losses at Denver and Golden State Jan. 1-2.

The Clippers, however, haven't stopped winning at home since suffering a 105-98 loss to New Orleans on Nov. 26. After beating the rival Lakers 107-102 on Friday to match the record of 11 established in 1978-79 -- the franchise's first in San Diego -- Los Angeles set the new mark with a 115-89 victory over the Warriors on Saturday.

"We've been pretty good at home," Chris Paul said. "It's all about our fans, and we feed off them. So we've got to keep making this a tough place to play."

Paul finished with 27 points and nine assists on Saturday despite exiting after Los Angeles had built a 96-60 lead with 2:40 left in the third quarter. The perennial All-Star has averaged 26.7 points on 55.1 percent shooting in his best three-game stretch of the season.

After averaging just 9.7 points while shooting 33.3 percent from the field in his previous three games, Blake Griffin has bounced back with 44 points on 17 for 28 shooting in his last two contests.

Griffin had 19 points and 13 rebounds in the Clippers' 112-90 victory over the visiting Mavericks on Dec. 5 as Los Angeles outscored Dallas 62-30 in the paint.

The Clippers rank among the league leaders in points in the paint (47.0 per game) and are 23-2 when they score at least 40 in the lane.

Los Angeles outscored its last two opponents 108-64 in the paint without shooting guard Jamal Crawford, who is again questionable after missing those contests because of a sore left foot.

Crawford, who had a game-high 20 points in the first meeting against Dallas (13-22), ranks among the top-scoring reserves in the NBA at 16.5 points per game.

The Clippers have averaged 107.1 points during their 12-game home streak, more than five points better than their season average (101.9). That's bad news for Dallas, which is 1-13 on the road when opponents score 100 points or more.

The Mavericks have lost eight of nine away from home and 12 of 14 overall, dropping their third straight with a 100-94 loss at Utah on Monday. Even with Dirk Nowitzki back in the lineup, Dallas has dropped nine of 10 -- with its only win coming at league-worst Washington on Jan. 1.

"I know one thing: we're going to keep on pushing," said Nowitzki. "I'm going to keep on getting in better shape."

After scoring 11 points or fewer in his first five games back from knee surgery, Nowitzki has put up at least 19 in his last three.

The Mavericks have begun showing some signs of life offensively as Nowitzki has rounded into form, averaging 100.5 points on 45.6 percent shooting in January. They had averaged 92.3 points while shooting 42.5 percent in their final nine games in December.

The Clippers are seeking their fourth win in five games against Dallas following a 10-game skid in the series.

Dallas is 1-9 in their last 10...sizzling

good luck charm

God can they play already?

3 days off is too long when I'm on winter break and have nothing to do except goof off.

It would actually help to root or hope the Lakers beat the Spurs so we can get further breathing room at the top. This should be a interesting game the Jazz beat up on Dallas by being physical hope we do the same. Need to take both home games coming up with three very tough road games ahead.

The Lakers are 11 1/2 games back in the division they will not catch us in pretty much anyway. The Warriors are the only threat and they have a very tough schdule coming up at some point we are going to aim for the next big prize and that is getting the conference home court through out the playoffs.

If it was Golden State versus the Spurs I wouldn't care either way but the Spurs are still on our tail and the Lakers are a non factor so why not hope they can help us out with a upset to gain some breathing room? The Lakers are done this year they can't tank because the Suns get their pick and they are to deep in a hole with injuries and poor chemistry/coaching to catch up. Besides I was jumping up and down as the Rockets beat them down. :D

i rather us have 2nd or 3rd seed and fakers not make the playoffs.

then have #1 seed and have them in playoffs.

I think that's a little conflicting. There's certain teams that I'll never root for under any conditions, although I wouldn't be upset at the benefit of those teams winning a specific game.

This team has set goals in mind and to achieve those goals, it would help to be in the best possible situation. If we're number 1 at the end of the season, then we avoid SAS/OKC in the 2nd round. If we finish 3rd, then we'd likely have to face one of OKC/SAS on the road in the 2nd round and the other on the road in the WCF. It's in our best interest to get home court advantage throughout the playoffs and avoid the tougher road if possible.

Dude Lakers are done they are not making the playoffs regardless the chemistry and coaching is a mess and even if that clicks they rely on 5 players to win games most of them being injury prone. I have no faith in Lakers bouncing back they WILL NOT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS! They might as well be our little brother puppet and help clear the path for us to be the number one team not only ir the western conference but in the league.

That team is a mess if by some way they beat the Spurs they still won't have enough to beat other teams in the league. The teams in the playoffs now are all legit and even if one of them choke the Timberwolves and Jazz are better teams than the Lakers the year of shame for them will not be undone enjoy it.

I want this Clipper team that has been breaking records to max out this season on the road to the title. At first it was winning the division was good enough but seeing how close it is and the East falling way off top to bottom whoever is top in the West will have the best record overall and I want that to be the CLIPPERS! :x :x    :D :D

Exactly. I'm not saying root for the Lakers all the rest of the year but in that game Lakers vs Spurs I want the Lakers to win. It's not even the case if the Lakers (or when the Spurs play the Warriors) were like 4 games behind us I would rather the Spurs win because gaining the division will be a strong confidence boost in itself but the Lakers are a non-factor they are done so any wins they get at this point have little to no impact because the teams ahead of them are all better. Hell if EJ can stay healthy the Hornets might catch up and pass the Lakers.

If this team could go into the playoffs with homecourt throughout Chris Paul himself saying the Clippers feed so much off the crowd we have a even better chance with a much more balanced and talented team than last season to get a title.

didn't even think of the #1 seed like that even though i thought we'd get it going into the year by winning 55-60 games.

but id love to crush the 8th seed...then the Memphis at the 4 seed...all my buddies keep saying they're much improved and we can't beat them.

would love to beat them and face SAS or OKC...2 teams that i think we can beat.
Part of me wanted a division championship, or to just make the WCF....but wth, I wanna think like my team's leader thinks...and i know chris thinks we can win it all.

the Clips need to take it one game at a time and not care what other teams do. As a fan I want to see the Clips get as much separation from GS & the Lakers, but I am happy with baby steps, win one game at a time. If we can win 53+ games we should get a good seed.

I like our chances against the Mavericks. We've had some time off to rest and get ready. I hope we're not rusty and it feels like we haven't played in forever.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Return to Los Angeles Clippers
