Re: Oh God no. Sold to Seattle owners?
I'd like to see basketball in Seattle but not at the expense of moving the Kings. Damn shame how this has played out. Small market teams need to stay alive and rise above big market teams. Kings are the heart & soul of Sacramento. I couldn't imagine living in a town with zero pro teams to root for so it's really not fair at all to you guys.
Hornets should've gone to Seattle. NO is a total football town and their own fans don't even support the team.
I've always had respect for your squad. Wolves & Kings were winning at the same time and pretty much fell at the same time. Both our teams despise LA, especially by ending our title run(s) in the 00s.
I hope there's a snag in the deal and you guys get new professional ownership that's well deserved along with a new arena deal.

Re: Oh God no. Sold to Seattle owners?
Hey guys, long time no see. To be honest, I have mixed emotions about this news. As some of you know, I've been living in the Seattle area for the last 8 years and would be happy to see the city get a team back. But having grown up in Sacramento and remembering the excitement in the city when the team moved from KC, this news feels a lot like a kick in the groin. I would love to see the Mafools sell the team since their pea-brained shenanigans are a big reason for me not even paying attention to the NBA this year. But I would rather they sell to a local group in Sacramento and let Hansen get a team for Seattle elsewhere.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

How does a city that did everything they could to keep a team that just got screwed by greedy and broke owners deserve a team that did nothing to try to keep them (gov't wise). I feel for Sonics fans but that sense of entitlement is ridiculous. Seattle has 3 other pro sport franchises. Leave Sac alone.
Furthermore Spencer Hawes is on my **** list for his giddiness over this.
I hope Sonics fans have not been that insensitive. When OKC bought the Sonics a lot of OKC fans came on realgm with the same kind of entitlement and self-righteous crap talk that you are feeling from some Seattle fans. It had been my hope that most Seattle fans, having gone through this ourselves, would act a little more mature and classy.

Re: Oh God no. Sold to Seattle owners?
Here's the deal. I don't blame the city of Seattle nor do I blame its fans. Simply put I blame the Maloofs and the NBA. The Maloofs could have sold to anyone. If they're only willing to sell to Hansen's group then that is all I need to know. If the NBA is willing to sign off on it that is all there is to know. All the other garbage is irrelevant.
In other news they are bringing USL-Pro to Sacramento in hopes of turning that into an MLS team. I'm really done with the NBA.

Can you please show me where? I am a Sonics fan and I feel for you guys. I can't think of a single regular Seattle poster who would say something like this. Now I may be wrong but I'd like to see where it happened.
I know Seattle fans are excited to possibly get an NBA team back, but trust me, all of us know what you are going through, and it sucks.
I'm sure 100% of Seattle fans would have rather had an expansion team. But unfortunately if it means no team or your team, well, sorry but we'll be happy with your team.
Don't worry once Sacramento builds a new NBA arena you guys will take the Bucks and so forth. Apparently that's the current landscape in the NBA. Musical teams for city's that build shiny arenas.

Re: Oh God no. Sold to Seattle owners?
Really sorry guys, Kings always seemed to have a great, loyal fan base and losing your team must hurt like hell. Nobody who hasn't been through it can tell you they understand how you feel and Seattle, KC etc didn't "deserve a team more than Sacramento", that's a crappy way of analyzing it.
As a Bucks fan we are probably right on the cusp of being the next team to have to fight off relocation / contraction and have a fight ahead of us to get a good new owner, arena, fan interest etc to justifying keeping us here. I have no real ties to Milwaukee the city until I visited it a few months ago but I would hate to see all the friends i've made through the Bucks go through this and I now will be just as crushed if this were to happen to us.
In my other love AFL (Australian Rules Football) which was the 4th highest attended sport on average in the world last year, I support the Western Bulldogs who are a poor, low supporter based struglling team and we went through a similar thing in the 90's and came inches from losing our club. We had a last minute fan day to raise money for the team and even changed our name from "Footscray" to "Western" to try develop our brand and just barely survived. Same as the Bucks where we are on the cusp of being the next team out if it came to it so I can only imagine how crappy it would feel to lose them.
It's hard because you put so much of your life into supporting a team that it would just be crushing to lose it. All the condolences in the world wont make up for the time, money, emotion etc you invested in the team but I hope to see the Kings back in the NBA real soon.
All the best guys.

And we will be happy if you STFU. You have the Mariners and the Seahawks. All we have is the Kings and here you are coming to our place and telling us you will gladly take our team.wiff wrote:bjax24 wrote:Ive seen Sonics fans justifying this with "We deserve a team more than Sacramento"

Celtics fan here. As others, I'd love to see a team back in Seattle but not at your expense.
Best of luck guys, there's still hope.

Dude he just said we wouldn't be in this situation if the city had built an arena, doesn't even acknowledge the city did get a deal together but it was the Maloofs that backed out. Grant also kept saying well because the deal was not good for the Maloofs, even though Stern said it was a very good deal. Also Grant had been on the air saying Arco cannot be renovated, yet as soon as Goerge says it can Grant changes his stance. Geez I can go on and on with example after example, not sure what you are talking about.
Maybe Grant will realize his money train is about to sail off into the night. If this team is sold to the Seattle group, he's probably going to be shown the door along with quite a few others.

Re: Oh God no. Sold to Seattle owners?
sorry for your loss guys.
i hated you guys for a while... especially from 2007-10 when udrih would always have his way against us in every damn kings/clips game.
i have quite a bit of sac friends and fans so i know the pain.
#RIP to the memories of the Chris Webber, Peja Stojakovic, Mike Bibby and Vlade Divac, and Mitch Richmond and Spud Webb Eras =\
Hopefully it falls through and the kings stay

This, even though they got moved from my city (KC) to Sacramento. All these Seattle fans feeling "entitled" to another team rubs me the wrong way.

Re: Oh God no. Sold to Seattle owners?
To be fair with Seattle fans, atleast the majority that I saw - They don't really feel they are more worthy then us for a team, and think we should keep the team in Sac.
They're saying that IF the team moves - they feel they should be the ones to receive it.
Granted I'm no fool and I know most\all of them would prefer for us to lose the team if it means they're getting it, deep down inside - but I mean, let's be real here - we would hope for exactly the same thing in their spot.. can we blame them?
Can't fault them for that imo. It's just human nature to hope for your own good first.

Horrible news.. You guys had one of the best homecourt advantages I've ever seen with C-Web, Pedja and Bibby.. As a Trail Blazers fan I hate to see small markets disappear. Best of luck.

Honestly, with Burkle actually interested in buying a team, I don't see how the Kings are not back in 3-4 years. Memphis and Milluwakee look like prime candidates. This carousel needs to stop though.

This might be an encouraging way to look at it, I guess. Memphis really doesn't have particularly good fan support from what I've seen, despite being a very good team.

For some stupid reason, the Maloofs hate Burkle as much as they hate the Lakers. In other words, they would never sell to him...and I don't think the NBA would be in any kind of hurry to get the NBA back to Sacramento when there's other cities with established fan bases and new arenas already in place.

Re: Oh God no. Sold to Seattle owners?
Knicks fan here, sending my condolences
Lionel Simmons.... Mitch Richmond.... Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.... Olden Polynice.... All those guys I enjoyed watching in the 90s.
Then we saw the transformation, into a contender. I'll never forget all those amazing Kings teams, the atmosphere at Arco, I remember when they'd pull out the decibel reader on national TV to show just how loud it was in the arena during that period.
White Chocolate, Bibby, Doug Christie, Vlade, Bobby Jackson, Peja, Hedo, CWebb, Samurai Scot Pollard, Funderburke, Corliss... man, I LOVED those Kings teams.
If I was a billionaire, and I wish I was, I'd find a way to keep the Kings in Sactown, and a way to put the Sonics back in Seattle. How bittersweet and ironic it must be for Seattle fans, knowing that the same thing that stole the Sonics away from them, has brought the Kings to Seattle. Just crazy. I wish it could be another way, but I guess this is how it's got to be.
I HOPE and I PRAY that the NBA will give the Sacramento Kings franchise a reboot in a few years through expansion.

Its a money making league and I think a couple years without basketball will get a town that loves basketball riled up. Guys like Webber who are still active in the NBA world will absolutely make some noise as will Kevin Johnson. Its really the only major city that wouldn't have an NBA team AND is willing to build a new arena. Pretty much the same scenario as the Sonics without the tension between the city and the NBA. Everyone saying Kansas City will be the next place to get a team is not thinking completely logical. They weren't even a player for the Kings so what makes them think they'll get an impressive group together for the Grizzlies or Bucks?
