Now Kobe does coast on defense as does the rest of the team, but without his scoring this team would be way worse. We need our bigs to defend hit the glass and be ready for the four or five easy buckets Nash will get them a game. We need a decent perimeter defensive scheme and we need Nash to just increase his point total by a few points and I think we will be fine.

Nothing wrong with him shooting in my opinion.I think he is too gifted to let the Spurs defense take a play off cos they know hes gonna jack one from 3. But if he put his head down and drove TONIGHT he may have gotten a better shot and possible AND1.

Kobe gets his freethrows, but I've never seen other players get as blatantly fouled as Kobe does driving sometimes without a whistle. We just have to keep it moving.

First of all can we all please stop bickering at one another? We can discuss our differences without getting angry or calling each other out.

With that said I'm now convinced our biggest problem so far this year has been the play of our bigs. (That and some really consistent piss poor officiating but I digress!) And here's why I've come to this conclusion... Earl m'fing Clark, a career journeyman, came in today and put up 20-10. (By the wy very nice game Earl! Props to you sir!) now if Earl can come from nowhere and put up 20-10 it tells me two things. It tells me Pau is really awful, nobody will disagree with me there, and it also tells me Dwight is far from 100%. I'm guessing Dwight is a lot closer to 60% than he is 100%.

With all of that said and out of the way I do think we can still be a force to reckon with if Hill can stay healthy, he's always dinged up,and Dwight can get somewhere near 100% before the playoffs begin. Of course our big problem is we're running out of time. We need some wins in a hurry!

If we can snag the 8th seed and be 99% healthy heading into the PO's we're going to be very dangerous. I firmly believe that!

Finding another shooter wouldn't hurt either but I'm thinking if Dwight gets near 100% our offensive rebounding will improve dramatically and so will the confidence of our shooters. (Nice theory anyway)

Last point... If Earl Clark can put up 20-10 what do you think a healthy Dwight would be capable of? 30-15? That's the difference in winning and losing tonight.

Ooops more last but not least... A legit backup pg? Please?

For the life of me I don't understand this either. The only thing that makes sense is MJ dick sucker Stern guaranteed MJ that he'd never let Kobe catch him. MJ never had to worry about getting calls on his drives meanwhile Kobe can't buy a whistle when it counts. More attention needs to be drawn to this injustice. It's the difference in winning and losing many games throughout the season. Teams play VERY physical against us because they know we just won't get the calls. It's excruciating to watch.

Lol at Captain Jack getting a meaningless dbl tech to make it look like there was some semblance of fair officiating tonight.

**** you Stern! You better hope I never get stuck in an elevator with you!

I still like D'Antoni, despite what some people on here think. He is a logical and knowledgeable coach who tries different rotations when things aren't working. He has emphazized defense, and has adjusted his system to suit the Lakers. Our offense is nothing like his Phoenix team.

The players should always take the blame before the coach.

if brown had gasol, howard, and hill all out injured. I am sure he would.

Even Nash is having a hard time getting the touch fouls he's used to having called. He drives and gets bumped twice on one play in the second Q with no call. You can't win in this league if the refs don't love you.

The importance of getting those calls every play is immeasurable. If other teams are picking up easy fouls they have to be a lot more conservative on defense and this would allow us to score far easier. Not getting those extra calls each game allows teams to be far too physical.

^Starting to sound like a David Stern conspiracy theorist. Question I guess is how much control does David Stern have over the refs, and why would he want to sabotage the Lakers?

What I don't get is the Lakers are always battling and fighting a deficit, and some how get into the game at the 4th quarter. Do the refs just ease up and allow the Lakers to get back in it?

I don't know. There definitely was some obvious missed calls in the game by the refs.

Just watch every game carefully and see how much more physical other teams are allowed to play us than we are allowed to play them. That makes all the difference in the world.

Oh I notice it, but I wonder if my lakers goggles blinds me at times. There is one ref I do hate....it is the buff mexican ref with the mustache.

let's stop with Stern trying to sabotage the Lakers. The NBA makes the most money when the Lakers are in the finals plain and simple. The CP3 thing would have never happened if the new CBA was not on the verge of being ratified the very next day by the owners.

or, he starts focusing more on defense. stop jacking up 25 shots a game. and trust his teammates more on offense.

Or the FO and coaches stop being lazy like oh they have since 01 and expect him to do a whole perimeters job over getting quality depth. Shannon right now would be a god send its that bad, how much we lack wing play

we have a lot of players in our team that can score. kobe (and artest) should be spending more time and energy on defense instead of scoring because hes the only capable defender on our team.

scoring 30 points means nothing if the other team's starting shootingguard scored 25 points and the bench shootingguard 15-17 points.

this is what separates jordan from kobe. jordan knows how to win. he'll adapt his game to what his team's needs. whether it is to be a playmaker, rebound more, or defend the other team's top scorer etc.

kobe has only one answer to everything....score, score, score, shoot, shoot, shoot...

Almost...I don't want to hear anymore about how last night might have been a "turning point". I am so tired of watching this team lose.

Soon this disaster will rank up there with some of the biggest flops in pro sports history. I love my Lakers, but this ish is tough. Time is running out, even though I still feel that somehow they are capable of turning it around.

The year the Suns traded EC to ORL in the Gortat/Turdolu deal, Nash said Earl was the a hardest working and most improved on the roster. Real glad to see him play well and get minutes. I just wish he didn't love his jumper so much

I don't know, his jumper seems really nice (very good mechanics). He strikes me as the type of player that excels next to Nash because of all the open 20 footers that he'll get. We don't have guys on the roster that can consistently make that shot. Artest certainly can't, and Kobe isn't left open enough to get those opportunities. If he can hit at a decent rate with Artest playing the 4 then the Lakers spacing issues could be solved, not to mention they'd improve dramatically on defense (mostly because Pau is moved to the bench).

I'm pretty excited to see what he can do for us when given consistent playing time.
