Every time I saw him play against LeBron he's always amped and plays well. Has that flare we may need in the playoffs against LeBron or Melo....Wallace doesn't do well against those guys. We can slide Gerald to the 4 and have a lineup of
PG DWill
SG JJohnson
SF RG
PF GW
C Lopez
we would have an expensive team though
we could then trade Wallace for maybe a true PF if it doesn't work.

Re: Wouldn't hurt to get Rudy Gay
Id rather trade for zach randolph if possible... hump, marshon, and a pick
dwill desperately wants a 4 that can score and that way we would always have a monster rebounder on the floor.

Re: Wouldn't hurt to get Rudy Gay
I think Z Bo is a poor fit on out team to be honest and would cost us every asset we have, besides I highly doubt we have remotely enough to even have a chance of trading for Z Bo

I don't see how it happens. Memphis wants cap relief and we don't have any big expiring contracts. Humphries doesn't expire until next season, so that doesn't help them avoid paying the luxury tax.
Besides that, I don't see how there are enough shots on this team. We have too many offensively talented players. We need defensive players such as Wallace, particularly in the interior.

I absolutely hate the idea of Randolph here.

A Wallace trade for Gay gets them below the lux tax which is exactly what Memphis wants, to avoid the lux tax.
The lux tax is set at $70,307,000 and Memphis currently have a salary of $74,353,577. Gay's contract is $16,460,538 and Wallace's salary is $9,682,435. You could send Wallace filler and a 1st for Gay and I'm sure they would take it. Could even throw Brooks in to seal the deal but it seems Brooklyn doesn't want to trade Wallace, or even Brooks who I believe they think holds big value.
So it's not so much cap relief that Memphis are looking for, they just want to avoid paying the luxury tax. That's why they wanted to talk to Tor, GSW and Kings. They all have a young player the Grizzlies would like in Barnes, DeRozan and Cousins. If we offered Wallace Brooks & our 2013 pick, I firmly believe Gay would be a Brooklyn Net.
BTW I actually would trade Wallace for Gay, which could be a controversial thing to say but Wallace will have a huge drop off soon and is a walking injury waiting to happen. At least if you traded for Gay your signing a top 5 SF (thats my opinion) who is only 26 years old. Which means going forward our team suddenly has their best years ahead of themselves in Lopez 24, Gay 26, Williams 28.
Basically it would make our team younger and better long term. Like I said in in 2 years Wallace will still have another $20m owed to him and his entire game is based on athleticism which I just can't see him maintaining much longer.

Re: Wouldn't hurt to get Rudy Gay
Yeah that's one of the things with Wallace, how long will he hold up?
This year and next are a safe bet, but all bets are off for the final 2.
He's getting up there, he's injury prone and his actual style makes him so.
We saw him for about the first 5 to 7 games last year when he was nursing what we would find out was a hammy strain and although he still looked the part of a very good defender and glue guy even with his athleticism marred, his offense was borderline gross and even his defense suffered if he was on the floor for too long of stretches.

Re: Wouldn't hurt to get Rudy Gay
We can't just send Wallace it doesn't match in salaries. I don't understand how the Grizzlies would be under the luxury tax if they traded for Wallace and our filler. They would not.
We have no expirings!

Re: Wouldn't hurt to get Rudy Gay
Wallace/Brooks/Bogans works and it gets them right about at the tax. In fact after they cut a couple min salary scrubs pre-trade to abide by CBA rules they probably just get under by somewhere around 100K, but I'd have to check.
