Re: Bosh is raising some noise.
1. You can't compare our rebounding numbers from the days we played Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Erick Dampier and Jamaal Magloire to these days when we play Bosh and Old version Haslem. what does that prove? those are totaly different players and totally different rotation.
2.Our rebounding numbers Lasy year were :
(# = our league rank, compared to all the other teams in the league)
#10 at DRB% - ok but not that great,
#19 at ORB% - bad, but not horrible.
This was before smallball.
3.Now, when we smallball all the time, our rebounding numbers are :
#23 at DRB% - very bad
#29 at ORB% - beyond awful.
To sum up :
2010-2011 - is totally irrelevant,
2011-2012 - we were a mediocre rebounding team, before smallbal.
2012-2013 - we are an awful rebounding team.
I hope this clears it up and open some eyes.

Re: Bosh is raising some noise.
As Rex pointed out you can't use total rebound % because we are worse on defense this year.
Misses when we are on defense are a lot more likely to be rebounds for us. We aren't forcing as many misses this year because our defense has tanked as well. Our trb% was overrated last year because our defense was a lot better.
Additionally to those saying its the same core, its not the same. The rotations are different. Haslem has another year on him. Battier/Lebron has been playing more as the second big instead of as the third.

Yeah, we don't rebound as well without a center next to Bosh. At the same time, Bosh has to hold some of the responsibility here. Its not like forcing LeBron to play power forward (because lets be honest, that's what he is with Battier in the game) has stopped him from getting 8+ boards a game, 10+ in quite a few including last night. Bosh is the one that is struggling, he rebounds less than LeBron does, and that is on him.
And if we changed it up and started plodding around like we did in 10-11, and last year in the regular season, with someone far less talented playing "center" for 20-30 minutes a game, we'd have issues, they'd just be different issues. People would go back to complaining about the offense like they used to, and they'd be asking us to open it up and play our 5 most talented players together.
There's no easy answer here that solves all our problems without creating new ones. If there were, it would've been done by now.
The answer is to sit tight, be patient, and hope that a decent big can be salvaged off the scrap heaps in time to be incorporated into this team's rotation before the playoffs. Or, hope the effort level does indeed rise when the playoffs arrive.
I agree that it is a little bit of both.
My suggestion has always been to play small ball when the matchup dictates it, like against the Thunder. The Thunder had two low skilled big men (Ibaka has improved his offense this year) and neither were dominant rebounders. But when you play the Grizz or the Clipps its probably not a good idea. Play the matchups.

Because these numbers don't mesh with the theme of the thread, these are being called fake now. LOL!
I assume these are total rebounding percents, right? Almost the identical rotation to last year, and a huge dropoff. Why? Oh. It can't be effort, right? The rational explanation must be that Haslem has fallen off massively, Spo is misusing the players really badly all of a sudden, Riley doesn't like winning as much as controlling a puppet, and the rest of the league has gotten a lot better. All these make more sense than calling a lazy effort a lazy effort. This has been a broadcast of the Emergency Heat Panic System. We not return you to your regularly-scheduled panic attack. PEACE.

Re: Bosh is raising some noise.
You guys are in a similar situation to Boston. We get beat on the boards because we have KG at center, you're basically doing the same as us with Bosh at center.
I'm sure both of our teams will be in a battle to sign Oden should he get back healthy like the reports indicate.

Yeah. You people have more assets to trade as compared to us though.

That's true - but you have LeBron.

All I want for the Celtics is to sign Oden, and Cedric Jackson. The Heat need to make a trade for a center. Dalembert would be a good get.

I don't think the Bucks are going to want to take back 6-7M of salary from Heat players.

per wiretap
“This is who we have,” James said. “Ain’t nobody outside. Who’s out there? If there was somebody out there, he would have been picked up. As a collective group, we’ve got to figure it out.

If a pick was included, I think they might look into it.
Otherwise, a Gooden for Miller deal works. They want Gooden gone.

Maybe if the Heat had expirings. I don't think Gooden helps anything.

Re: Bosh is raising some noise.
heat need to stop with the pace and space offense. while i do think that a guy like birdman would be an upgrade over haslem and anthony in the bigs department its really not gonna make a huge difference but any little thing that would make us better we should do it. what really needs to change is that crappy ass oregon ducks offense we run. were not a run and gun team contrary to popular opinion. while we do have 3 of the most athletic players playing their respective positions, the heat are better suited to playing a slow pace and a relentless defense that leads to transition buckets where lbj and wade are most dangerous. it seems like we dont even get that much transition buckets anymore, just pass the ball around in a circle and look for 3s and when that fails lebron bulldozes to the rim

Yeah sort by differential, not total rebounds. Games that are played at the fastest speed have the most possessions/shots and therefore the most rebounds to be had. Miami had the 5th fewest FGA per game as well. By rebound differential, Miami had the 6th best team (outrebounding opponents by an average of 1.8 reb per game)

thats the leader thing to say. But as ballers they know it makes the most sense to find better bigs. Lebron wont say it tho, neither will Spo or Riley.
Bosh is blunt tho...
