Philly isn't looking to move Thad Young, but a Thad Young/Dorrel Wright move is right along the lines of what the Grizz should be looking for. Players that fill needs and get us under the cap.

The inclusion of Allen for the deadweight of Gooden and Dunleavy kills it for me.

^ I wouldn't say Dunleavy is deadweight, he's pretty good..but I'd agree that trading Allen with Gooden is crap.

Wolves might make a good trading partner, either with AK or Derrick Williams as the main piece?

A Gay for Deng + sweetener makes the most sense to me.

Deng's only a year older and does everything well, particularly on the defensive end. Plus he is an excellent matchup against the great SF's in the league, and it seems like every contender has one.

And the Bulls really need some offense. Even if Rose comes back 100% they still need another guy who can get his own shot. And Gay is one of those hard-to-come-by guys who can get up a credible shot from anywhere on the court any time he wants to.

id be reluctant to offer this but would probably do so: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=a86yjhm

I like the second deal. The first one doesn't make any sense for the Grizzlies.

Philly offers veteran sharpshooter Jrich , prospect Big Arnette Moultrie and Two very useful expirings in Dorell Wright and Nick Young. Philly also offers future 2nd rder.

For Gay and fillers Wayn Ellington and whatever to get it done.

Grizzlies get big wing shooters/scorers and depth that can replace Rudy's production on much friendlier contracts. A big man prospect and a 2nd rounder.

Final offer

Jrich , Dorrell Wright, Arnette Moultrie, Damien Wilkins and 2 future 2nd rounders for Rudy Gay.

Ric Bucher.
Add the Washington Wizards to the list of teams that are in the mix for the services of Grizzlies small forward Rudy Gay, according to a league source. Not clear on what the Wizards' offer might be but was told it was "a good one."

As a Wizards fan I come to inquire about Rudy Gay. I haven't watched a ton of Grizzlies games so I don't have much knowledge about Rudy. Will you please provide a little insight into his game? Honestly I can't say I'm overly enthralled with the idea of trading for him. Advanced stats indicate he's merely average, but his contract is exorbitant to put it mildly, so there's a massive unreconciled difference between his performance/pay ( I know captain obvious here). Is this a product of the system? Having to play 3rd banana to Z-Bo/Gasol? Lack of other creative perimeter players on the roster?

As far as the Wizards offer being "a good one" I don't see how it can categorized as "good" unless Beal, Wall, or a lightly protected 1st round pick is included. The rest of the roster is trash. Needless to say I'm extremely leery of this deal. Please make me feel better our incompetent GM!

While you do have to take a players salary into consideration you would be missing the boat if you just did that with Rudy and then looked at his production by the numbers. Rudy Gay is probably the fourth best SF in the league behind Lebron, Durant, and Carmelo Anthony. Couple that with the fact that he is probably top ten league wide in Athleticism, he can get his own shot at any time and is therefore a potential closer. Individuals with that skill set often times are done a dis service by their teammates as they are thrown the ball with 5 seconds or less on the shot clock and forced to improvise with varying degrees of success.

Therefore teams look at what he still can be at the age of 26 and you get no shortage of suiters for his services. Yes trading or acquiring talent that never fufills its promise will get a GM fired but it is all about risk reward and the reward for a potential Superstar Rudy Gay is huge.

I know what you are saying, well if he is so great why get rid of him? Memphis is a small market with a still developing fan base, we can ill afford to pay the luxury tax if their are other options at lesser costs. Our core group have better deals and are younger, and plus Rudy will give us the most potential return.

^^Rudy Gay is not the 4th best SF in the NBA
Paul Pierce is better then Rudy Gay
Paul George is better then Rudy Gay
Josh Smith is better then Rudy Gay

AK47 has been better then Rudy Gay this season
Nic Batum has been better then Rudy Gay this season
World Peace has been better then Rudy Gay this season
Kawhi Leonard has been better then Rudy Gay this season
Luol Deng has been better then Rudy Gay this season

You are clearly over rating Rudy Gay. And as far as referring to his "upside" and "potential", guy is getting 19 mill next year, you'd hope that potential would be realized by now.

I have to disagree with basically everyone on that list.

While Rudy hasn't been terribly efficient this season, it's not really his fault. The Grizzlies don't run their offense through him. They run it through Gasol and Zbo. Then if that doesn't work, the ball gets tossed to gay with 6 or 7 seconds on the clock and his job is to get up a shot that has a chance.

When the Grizz run plays for him - even simple isolation plays, he has been much much better. Case in point would be the OKC game earlier this year where he was taking it right at Durant. Because the Grizz were getting him the ball in spots he feels comfortable in (namely, the right block) with plenty of time on the shot clock, his talents were able to shine through.

While I like all the players you mentioned, none of them can get his own shot the way Gay can. This is why I've been more in favor of trading Randolph (who is older, makes the same money as Gay, and also prefers the right block) rather than Gay.

Add to this the fact he is a good defender and rebounder and is credible from beyond the arc, and you should be able to see why many people rank him top 5 at SF, usually 4th behind Lebron, Durant, and Melo, who are arguably top 5 players at ANY position.

My preferred trade partners are Charlotte (MKG, Diop, & Henderson) for (Rudy & Ellington)

Seriously doubt that would happen. Charlotte is likely to throw only expiring junk at you b/c that's all we really have. MKG, Kemba, and Biyombo (Cho's project) are about as untouchable as Charlotte has.
