Re: What's your next step as a fan?
Being a Giants and Niners fan, one might assume it to be easy for me to jump on the Warriors banwagon, but it just doesn't feel right to me. I honestly have no idea what I am going to do. If I do indeed root for an NBA team again, it'll be the Warriors with out doubt. I've followed and rooted for Festus Ezili since his college years. I live in Yuba City where is uncle lives -- a Kings season ticket holder -- and where Festus attended Comunity college for a short time. One thing is for sure, I will never root for an LA based team. Shoot me.

I don't blame you. I would quit watching basketball forever before I ever rooted for any LA team.

I'm not really sure. I generally root for the local team, so I might jump ship to the Warriors since they're my second favorite team anyways. At least a ton of my friends won't give me **** for rooting against everyone when we go to a Dubs' game at Oracle anymore.
I don't think I can root for the Kings after they move. It's like still being in love with your ex that's already moved on to a new relationship, lol.

The kings are the reason i became a basketball fan. If theey lose their history and instead become the Sonics i may have to find a totally new team to root for. if they keep their history and become something like the royals or the sea kings or what have you i will probably continue to support them.
Im from the east coast and live in DC but i have always been a kings fan, location is less important to me than it is to most of you, the more difficult issue will be losing the history of this franchise. one of the original 8 franchises.

It's gonna take a while, but sooner or later, I'm gonna eventually turn into a Warriors fan, seeing as I get them on my cable anyways.. Still wont feel right tho..

I can't blame the NBA, they stepped when needed last season to help us approve an arena, its all the Maloofs.
I was thinking the Warriors but I am not sold on that front court

Re: What's your next step as a fan?
I still don't know.
The other professional sport I'm emotionally invested is football (or saaawker) but even then, the Kings (basketball) are still #1 for me.
It's either:
Quit the NBA all together
Begin investing in football
Shamelessly root for another NBA team i.e. Warriors etc.
Yaaay...

Re: What's your next step as a fan?
Lots of memories here, been following since 1985, anyone remember those old wooden floors at the first "Arco"?
Was hoping to take my son to games here in a couple more years, and maybe he would have got a chance to play at Arco as well.
Still going to follow the team, just may have to pay a premium to watch them at home now instead of local broadcast.
Hopefully the name remains "Kings"....but if I am still in town and we get an expansion team down the road would root for the new team.

Re: What's your next step as a fan?
I'm not from Sacramento so I would probably continue to follow the team and the players.
But I honestly don't know, I mean today I thought about it that it probably won't even be "The Kings" anymore too.
It's tough man. I really don't know. I mean what if they made major roster changes too? it won't even be the same 'team'.. you know?

One thing's for sure though - I will always continue to be a Lakers hater.
So if they become the Seattle SuperSonics and just completely change the entire team and make me feel like it's not the same, I'll just root for whoever the Lakers are playing, and become a players fan, like follow DeMarcus or something.

The owners will allow any mood unless there's an explicit reason to not allow it. This isn't on the NBA. It's on the Maloofs.
Sacramento needs to ask the NBA to keep the Kings name and history in Sacramento. I think cheap ass Grizzlies owner will probably lose his franchise soon and they could be the new Kings.
Then why not wait and let Hansen's group buy the Grizzlies; instead of creating all this ill-will, the Maloofs backed out of the arena deal and created this mess.

Finally! People making sense in this thread!
@pillwenny (These forums need tagging)
No it's an NBA issue!! If the owners agree to uproot a franchise from this city (or as you simply put don't care) why do I care about their product?

Re: What's your next step as a fan?
You don't have to care. I'm just saying the owners aren't at fault here. We shouldn't blame them for approving a move that the Seattle owners are making. That's their right and Seattle is a perfectly viable market.
We should blame the Maloofs for not making it work here when they had the perfect opportunity to do so.

If the group knew they weren't going to get support to move the franchise they wouldn't have tried to purchase it. If you have a vote in the matter you are part of the issue. That's plain and simply it. If the owners think that Seattle is a viable market then why haven't they just expanded the league? Why does it have to come at the cost of another city, and why does the NBA escape blame when they vote on the issue?

Re: What's your next step as a fan?
They don't expand the league because talent is already very diluted right now. It's not their job to make sure every viable market has a team in it. You have to account for how over all talent affects the quality of the league's product.

Re: What's your next step as a fan?
My problem is the NBA fought for a franchise like the hornets and **** bought it so they'll be in New Orleans and not get moved.
Yet Sacramento as the small market team that probably showed they deserve and are capable of supporting a team in their town evern since coming to the league, get the short end of the stick as easily as Stern blinks.
That pisses me off. They could, screw it, they SHOULD fight for us more.

I agree. Should've let the Hornets stay in OKC, and that would've kept the snowball from reaching us.

Re: What's your next step as a fan?
First step for myself is to continue to hope and pray that this still works out for Sacramento. If it doesn't, then I'm with ICMTM and I think I'll be done with the NBA. I don't think I could continue to watch something that clearly doesn't give a damn about me. Sacramento has done everything asked of it and more, and under literally the most difficult of circumstances. No other city has done so much for a single team, and there would be no words to describe what an injustice it would be if our team ended up somewhere else.
