Lebron is currently the #1 spot up shooter in the entire nba

Post#1 » by hra8700 » Thu Jan 10, 2013 2:19 am

At 1.55 points per posession. On spot up 3 pointers Lebron James is shooting 24/43 (55.8%).

In comparison on spot up 3-pointers:

Ray Allen: 39/73 (53.4%)

Mike MIller: 20/51 (39.2%)

Shane Battier: 46/111 (41.4%)

Is there anything this guy can't do?

I'm more intrigued by the poor shooting from MM & Battier knowing that most of their spot-ups are wideeeee open, since they can't shoot off the dribble or on the move like Ray. Awesome three-point specialist if I must say so.

There's a reason why people call him one of the most complete players in NBA history. Not a single thing that guy can't do on a basketball court...

Except make free throws consistently. But that's alright.

His jumpshot has improved the last 3 seasons. I didn't watch much of him in Cleveland, but was he ever a good jumpshooter there? I wonder if it's the shooting coaches that helped. PEACE.

He's been improving his jumpshot for many years. Did people not watch what he did against ORL

Its called championship confidence. He is growing, if only he was in that poor cleveland team now.. he would be averaging 38 ppg

to me, that's also a testament to his maturity: his shot selectionf from 3 is much better now.

it's anecdotal (no data, just from watching games) but i think he was already very good as a spot up shooter in cleveland. the problem is that he was taking very few of them because he liked to come down and throw heat checks and no one could actually set him up for an open shot.

Honestly, these guys have the easiest jobs in the nba. Literally stand there and hit shots. Yet they can't even do that at a 55% rate like LBJ who you'd think would be near the end behind these shooters. Pretty incredible what he's doing...

Yeah but our bench sucks...we have four one dimensional shooters who can only shoot (miller, battier, allen ,jones)...seriously that is just stupidto fill your bench with four shooters who basically play the same position...and add to that our bigs on the bench don t even play (besides JOel)...

miller and jones are one dimensional, but allen has much more offensive game then just shooting + clutch factor, and battier does a lot of dirty work on defense

haha yea and he hasn't been so good at making clutch shots in the last few seconds of a game but he does make clutch plays down the stretch of a game...

Miller is the least one dimensional of the group. Hes a good passer. Ball handler. And he rebounds at a wade bron rate.

If he wasn't so fragile he'd easily be our fourth best player.

Battier defends rebounds and does have a post game if he was ever matched on smaller players. Also the smartest guy on the team.jj is the only go on our bench who is only - 3 point shooter.

Miller is one dimensional? Like did that just happen today or something? Because throughout his career he's been a great passer, rebounder, he can dribble VERY well and he hustles for everything.

Yes. THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER. But this isn't 'throught his career'. This is the final gasp of his career. Face it, he's banged up and barely does anything. He's pretty much one dimensional. He can spot up shoot, pump fake take a couple of steps and shoot. That's about it. He's a solid rebounder for who he is, but doesn't really make an impact on the glass with his 2.5 rpg, so I don't know why you guys keep bringing that up. He's a great passer. Umm, no. What exactly is the evidence here? He swings the ball around the perimeter like any other wing player in the league... Other than that, he's passing has no impact. Same can be said for all the other things you listed starting with dribbling. He can't penetrate or create of the dribble, so how do his handle/dribbling skills aid the Heat? I'll give you that he hustles, but within his own limitations, which are pretty low.

I like Mike Miller, he's a good guy. It gets pretty vivacious when he gets hot and is hitting three after three, but you gotta realize that those days are now few and far between... On average, he's just a guy who can't stay healthy, is slow, and plays little defense. On the offensive end, he comes into the game, hits his three-pointer and that's all you're getting from him every game.

Why the hate on Miller? For me he has actually been a nice surprise this season. He's a steady contributor that always plays hard and within his limits. He has clearly outplayed Allen, yet he doesn't complain and just keeps going. Who would have though that after the back-problems last season. If anything he should get some of Rays minutes. With Miller on the floor the Heat are a fantastic offensive team due to his passing ability and the added spacing. He works very well with the big3 on that end and that supports buy the fact that he has a team-high Otrg with 114.8.
His defense is often horrible but so is Allen's and Lewis as well. He's a good stop gap that gives the team good minutes until the big3 is on the floor again. With him on the floor we are still Miami Heat, with Allen on the floor we are Washington Wizards.
