i hope Philly gets him too.... believe me trading true assets for him will be like the Kessel deal. He is also on a ugly contract.
the true answer long term for the Leafs will be Jussi Rynnas.... he is the true jem in the system. If Loungo comes here and gets the Leafs to the playoffs for short term success, Rynnas will never be a starter for the Leafs.
...... hell Leafs will be stuck with Luongo cause by then no one will want him.
Start the season with Jussi Rynnas in net

I still find this rumour a little hard to believe.
The Flyers just signed Bryzgalov last season, sure he had a poor season but hell, so did Luongo. So you're going to pay both of these goalies large $$$$ while you're still paying Chris Pronger huge $$$$ to sit at home?

rumor is they plan on using the amnesty on Bryzgalov after this season...... they would be off the hook as far as the salary cap is concerned. However, Bryzgalov still gets his money so they'ed be paying him to play for someone else. Thats what also makes little sense to me, but some teams are winning i guess. They'll pay him his money and use the extra cap space created for Luongo.
im hoping Philly gets him.... Rynnas cant be cock blocked
then they will likely use the 2nd amnesty the season after "if Pronger is truely done"...... teams have 2 amnestys but only 1 per offseason

There are some clever twists in the contract that benefit both sides, but from what I gather, Luongo essentially has a no-trade clause. If he doesn't care to play in Philly, he won't.
The Spurs Way

Luongo had a way better season than Bryz. Bryzgalov absolutely sucked last season. Im not surprised they want him.
Philly will most likely amnesty Pronger and Bryzgalov.

Rynass is more than definitely not the answer to the goaltending mess, imo.

Re: Philly also wants Luongo
Bryz and Luongo put up very similar #'s last season so I'm not sure it was a way better season, marginally better maybe. They both had poor seasons by their own standards. Thing was, the Canucks had someone to fall back on while the Flyers didn't so it probably seemed a lot worse.
If Philly does get Luongo the Leafs could probably get Bryz from the Flyers for free. He's 2 years younger, It's a shorter contract for a little less money. He played at a high level in Phoenix for 4 years prior to last season so maybe he just needs a change of scenery?
Can you amnesty a player that you trade for or does the player have to be on your roster right now?
