No your being soft on Kobe. I backed up my statement. Pointed to the games that Kobe's defense hurt this team. By what you say how many games do you think Kobe's defense has cost them. I don't think JVG would say Kobe needs to improve his defense if it has hurt him in just two games.
Like I said. I didn't start a thread to talk about Kobe's defense. But if we were going to start talking about defense. The leader of this team sets the tone. How in the world can you not start the conversation with Kobe's defense this year. You can't be talking about this is my team and I'm the leader but pass the buck when we talk about defense. This team is pushing top 5 in offensive efficiency. Despite the fact Gasol and Howard can't get involved in the offense on many nights. The losses come become of the inability to stop people. The reality is if this team looks like they don't care often on defense and just want to score. To me outside of his on the ball defense against elite scorers he has played defense like he not engaged at all.
You think I'm being hard on Kobe. Fine. I'll send him some flowers. To me I think Kobe is capable of holding AA to under 30 points against the Magic. I think when Popovich is making a play to win the game. Knowing that Kobe is going to ignore his man. Scouting reports around the league are telling him something. I'm watching the Denver game as the Nuggets broadcast laughing it up that Kobe is just ignoring Corey Brewer. Go look at the video of that Cleveland game. Half the game I have no clue what Kobe is doing on defense. So when you say I'm being tough on him. I'm thinking if any other player on the Lakers played like that would you be saying I'm being hard on them. My criticism is completely fair.
