Knicks vs Pistons @ O2 Arena in London Jan 17 @ 3 PM NBATV

Post#1 » by Han Solo » Sun Jan 13, 2013 7:11 pm

Game is on Thursday.

Discuss here.

If we are getting better (and clearly looks that way), this would be a good win in my opinion. New York is a good team.

Wow, Pistons up to 16th on Hollinger's team rankings. Were getting better. Sucks we had to start off 0-8. Without that we might be a legit threat for a playoff spot. I don't see it being 10 games under .500 right now.

We'd have to continue to rattle off some winning streaks for that to happen.

Pistons at #21 on ESPN's Power Rankings -

http://espn.go.com/nba/powerrankings

Pistons at #20 on NBA.com's Power Rankings -

The Pistons may not be the first team you're looking for when you're League Pass surfing, but if they're in the second quarter, leave the channel right there. Their second unit, featuring Will Bynum, Andre Drummond and some shooters, can be very fun to watch. Detroit has an OffRtg of 115 in 115 minutes with Bynum, Drummond, Austin Daye and Charlie Villanueva on the floor together.

Andre Drummond is #4 on NBA's rookie Ladder -

Drummond is still doing his thing on the boards (8.2 per game over last four), but he's also starting to pick things up defensively. The Pistons' big man has averaged 2.5 blocks over the last four games with at least two blocks in each of those games. Drummond is a beast, and his potential is clear.

Same here, come back and post after the game if you like. Would be cool to hear about the atmosphere there. Hopefully Drummond does his thing and we pick up a few England fans.

The prices to see the game were too high for me, even if I live in France. I'd prefer to do a trip to the USA and see a game in Auburn Hills at this price.

I really like this Pistons team. Even when we lose we scrap and fight right until the end. They could''ver just mailed it in against ATL, but it was that fight to comeback and send it to 2 OT that has propelled this streak of great play. Last night they could've mailed it in after UTAH went up 11 with a few in left, being the 2nd night of b2b. But instead scrapped and made it a 3 pt game with a chance to send it OT again at the end, and probably should've went to OT given the foul on Knight that wasnt called.

Like the ATL game, that could mini-comeback could pay dividends going to London.

I agree. This team has become fun to watch. Hopefully it starts showing up with attendance at the Palace.

Was this game scheduled back when we still had Ben Gordon?

I'm just wondering why we were chosen.

No. This game was announced in Oct of 2012, long after Gordon was already gone

Seems odd, then.

Well we play at "The Palace", have a player named "Prince" and another named "Knight". Also had a "Big Ben"(who should be on the team dammit!), a Middleton (a la Kate Middleton) and a player named "English".

would imagine this game would get a pretty decent national audience, something that none of our games so far this season will have gotten. hoping drummond, and the team can create some positives in the media about our team.
the more we keep winning the more likely it is to get a difference maker to become a piston as players are less likely for a player to tell management he would rather not play here

The Pistons are one of the elite franchises historically, as are the Knicks. So it makes sense to me.

If they wanted a matchup of 2 current top teams, they would've scheduled MIA/OKC.

Its not like the Knicks were a top team at the time this was scheduled, and the Pistons were just some sacrificial lamb added to the billing. The Knicks stunk too at the time, coming off getting destroyed in the 1st round in b2b years.

This is more about the historical importance of the franchises chosen than current success.
