Millsap trade idea
Would you consider a straight swap of millsap for JJ Redick? salaries work and both are on the final year of their deals.

Re: Millsap trade idea
it's not an unfair deal. i'd want a bit more than a straight swap (1st round draft pick - orlando have a bunch), but i wouldn't feel we got robbed if it happened. the question is - do you know what kind of contract redick is looking for?

we seem to over value millsap. all i read here is we should have traded him for a top 10 pick at the last draft, or that redick for millsap is not a serious offer. well, i think that's part of the reason we still got him - because his value is not as high as we think it is and we don't take the offers we do get. other teams have to say yes to millsap deals too, you know.
and btw, he turned down a 3 year 8M per year offer and he is an unrestricted free agent. if redick will settle for less, why not get him? he is a great shooter and turned himself into a respectable defender. i'm sure you realize we can effectively lose millsap for nothing in about a month.
but be my guest - offer realistic deal that involves millsap that yields a better return for the jazz. and by realistic, i mean that both teams would want to do this deal.

don't look at right now, look at the future. millsap is likely gone, and we need to play favors at his position anyway. foye is an unrestricted FA too. if redick is willing to sign on a reasonably priced extension, why not lock him up as a starter\6th man? throw in a first round pick the jazz's way and i'm on board.

I would love this trade.
Both players are valued by their teams over their talent levels since both are long-time fan favorites, but they are deservingly so.
Swapping a big for a 6th man caliber SG is not logical under normal circumstances, but since Millsap is as good as gone and Utah is in no imminent need for another big, adding a solid player like Redick would be nice.

Re: Millsap trade idea
Losing millsap and not getting a comparable vet back hurts the FO's "win now" strategy and reddick doesn't fit the bill. So no this deal won't happen and I dought any trade happens with millsap as long as we are still in the playoff hunt.

Re: Millsap trade idea
redick has 6 years in the league - i think he qualifies as a vet. and he is someone who can stay and contribute for a good number of years. i'd say that though they play different positions, redick and millsap are comparable. both should fill the starter\6th man role on their team at their own position.

come on...
he's not a franchise player or a cornerstone piece, - so don't treat him and judge him as such. he is a good role player who can start or be a 6th man, which is pretty much what millsap is. and btw, look what he did to the clippers last night.

i don't see the benefit of letting millsap walk for free. do you?
you don't see a need for him? our back court defense sucks. and next season mo and foye are likely gone so we'll need shooting again (and btw, redick is a better playmaker than both of them.) he brings shooting, playmaking and adequate defense. don't you think we need those, or that we will need those next season when we'll build our roster all over again?

He wouldn't be a sixth man on a contender...... The years when Orlando was any good he didn't play more than 22 minutes a game......
The only reason he's getting more playing time now is because of injuries (Turkoglu, Afflalo (earlier)) and bacause the Magic suck.......
By the end of this season he'll be 29, he's wortless to us...... We shouldn't be wasting our time talking about him.....

Re: Millsap trade idea
Millsap is a great player, he was only in a slump cause of that contract stuff. If he goes into FA this summer, and we match what ever offers, were probably better off keeping him, unless we can bring in someone of equal or great value in that PF position.
If we do trade, I would trade Marvin, Watson, and Millsap, and secure ourselves, a great SF and PG. If we keep Mo, then the only position that needs upgrading is SF. Marvn is a defender but has no real "edge" or thing he can do, besides be over paid for the little he does. If we had a Rudy Gay type, we would be so much more amazing. I mean Hayward is better than Marvin.

i'll say it again - please, by all means, offer a realistic trade for millsap that yields better value for the jazz. a trade that both teams will make.
i think we should all wake up and realize we are not a contender. and until the front office proves otherwise, we are not even close. until we are (or at least close), we should look at the jazz and their plans in the proper context. if he is willing to sign a reasonable contract, i'd take a quality rotation player who does a few things pretty well that the team needs + 1st pick for millsap. it is better than losing him for nothing. i think we should all wake up and realize that we are not getting a star\allstar for him.
and yet, i have a strange feeling that we might end up with granger...

Re: Millsap trade idea
I think Millsap is worth a good trade. I mean if he gets a FA contract offer, I can see it being more than what we offered(by a couple million, which is like 12 millionish). Still a good PF, that has already had his contract go up cause of the Portland offer...His price is actually in a great spot that most people would really like to trade for. He is just a great deal for price/performance.
I mean he isn't a Lee or Randolph, but he is a good PF. Jazz in a rebuilding mode, so I don't see the problem with trying trades that might change our situation. I personally think we need to draft our future team, and were half way there already. This team has completely changed in the last year or two, and we still have much to do while still playing now.
To me, Al, Paul, Foye and Mo are all good enough to be our starters till our bench group takes over in a few years. Assuming were smart enough to keep all of our great draft picks.
Honestly I don't think this team will be back in "Division Leader Potential", till the 15-16 season. Till them we grab as many hot draft picks as possible, and get the best FA's we can get(including trades), while our draft picks get experience. If we have a good turn around, we could see our team turn around by 14-15....

i agree. neither is udoh imho.
the only reason i might consider making any trade for ellis is to clear cap space for 2014-2015.

Bucks have a good team....
Like I have said, you might think Millsap isn't that important, but the general consensus is that everyone wants him. If we put out a notice that Millsap is for trade, the offers would start coming through....At least 2-3 teams would make offers that day....I know Portland would want him, they tried to get him before, which is why we gave him that crazy huge contract...
I wonder which PG in the draft will be the new hot young PG...
