Bobcats pick up for grabs?

Post#1 » by GSR121 » Mon Jan 14, 2013 7:01 am

According to the wiretap, The Bobcats have been advised to trade their first round pick in this years draft. I am wondering what you think it would take to get it? What are you willing to give for it?. I think The Bobcats will use this to gain cap room or possibly to pick up a young player. With that said...

Pistons out: Jason Maxiell and Austin Daye.

Bobcats out: Tyrus Thomas, their 2013 first and the rights to our pick back.

Why for the Pistons: Gain two picks. Basically, one for Jason, one for Austin.

Why for the Bobcats: large amount of cap space (Maxiell exp.) and a young player displaying upside in Daye. For a guy that is not a huge part of their future (Thomas) and a pick that their scouts say is not worth it. Our pick coming back to us is just sweetener, if it needed to be cut out I'd be O.K. with that.

What do you think? Can we get the pick/what would it cost?

No and No,

We'll more than likely keep our pick this year and it be a midrounder next year. Additionally i don't want to pick up another overpaid overachiever just for a first rounder. The lolcats wouldn't do that deal either.

Also idk how you did it but we managed to get 2 high lottery picks for maxiell and daye.

No way the Bobcats would have a trade like this in mind for their pick. They'd probably look to package their pick for guys like Gay, or Cousins.

Would you trade Zeller/Shabazz/etc. and another future lottery pick for Maxiell and Daye if you were the Bobcats? Didn't think about that side?

No chance that package even gets you one of those picks.

:o :eek1:

KembaWalker was messing with you to get you to realize how silly it sounded to propose two lottery picks for two mediocre role players. Do you honestly think we would add our two best young players to that mess? Any trade with Detroit for Kemba, MKG, or any of our lottery picks would have to include the name Monroe. Still want to work out a deal?

This rates right up there with one of the alltime homer proposals... the Cats should be able to obtain a borderline allstar for their pick.

Yeah we'd definitely want Stuckey included in that case.

I wasn't responding to KembaWalker, I was responding to GSR1211...The only person I want on the Bobcats is my boy Gordon...I wasn't a fan of the Spaghetti/Gordon deal...

I'd offer Monroe for the first overall pick - whoever gets it. I want Shabazz.

I think Sabazz will be there at the 10th pick.

We have nothing to trade the bobcats that is worth there pick. If they trade the pick they will be looking for a Monroe type to return.

I thought this was a terrible trade before I saw that you had them also giving us our pick back.

Guarenteed lottery picks don't get traded for cap space, and they certainly don't get packaged along with other picks for cap space. Things simply don't work in that manner. As others have said, it would take proven young talent to make something like that happen.

I don't see any need for this pick anymore. Charlotte will be getting a Non-Lottery pick regardless.

If I were the Bobcats I would, but if I were the Bobcats I'd also walk into oncoming traffic or jump off a bridge.

I don't think he will be. Shabazz could get injured and be out for the rest of the season and he would still be a top 5 pick at worst.

As for the trade, this is borderline 2k13 style unrealistic. It would be pure robbery...Essentially we take on one bad contract, give up 2 role players and get two likely top 10 picks back? Pure robbery.
