What do you guys think about this deal for us? (Posted on T&T board)

CHA_77_Bobcats wrote:Charlotte:
out: Ben Gordon, Hakim Warrick, Reggie Williams, complete rights to CHA 2013 1st
in: Jeremy Lamb, Perry Jones III, Deshawn Stevenson, Johan Petro, Kendrick Perkins

why: The Bobcats might be shopping our 2013 1st, so we cash in and get OKC's promising rookies, who would be wasted talent behind a lineup with such amazing depth. Lamb fits perfectly between MKG and Walker, while PJ3 might be our answer at the 4.

--

Chicago:
out: Luol Deng, Marquis Teague, Richard Hamilton, Kirk Hinrich
in: Lou Williams, Ben Gordon, Eric Maynor, complete rights to CHA 2013 1st

why: It's no secret Chicago wants to cut costs. They do so while making their bench one of the best offensive ones in league. Both fit nicely with Derrick Rose. The pick they hold from Charlotte becomes unprotected so they finally get it in 2013 for sure. The pick projects to be in the 5-8 range as of now.

--

Oklahoma City:
out: Jeremy Lamb, Perry Jones III, Eric Maynor, Kendrick Perkins, Toronto's 1st
in: Al Horford, Kirk Hinrich, Mike Scott

why: Oklahoma is too deep for their own good. There is wasted talent in Lamb, PJ3, and Maynor, while Toronto's pick won't yield them results this year (or even after that). OKC cashes in on all these assets and picks up a near-All-Star level center who will almost certainly push them over the top. Hinrich is also a savvy vet who brings more tenacity when Westbrook hits the bench.

--

Atlanta:
out: Al Horford, Lou Williams, John Petro, Deshawn Stevenson, Mike Scott
in: Luol Deng, Marcus Teague, Hakim Warrick, Rip Hamilton, Reggie Williams, Toronto's 1st

why: The Hawks are in a mini-rebuilding phase. They relieve themselves of a 3-way logjam at the point, gain very-much-needed wing talent, pair the Teagues together, nab some expiring deals, and gain a 5-10th pick in the upcoming draft. Deng/Smith will likely be the best 3/4 defensive combo in the league.

tl;dr:
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=a5ztd8w
This with OKC's Toronto pick to ATL, and Charlotte removing all protection on our 1st to guarantee Chicago gets our pick.

I think this is a win for us. Lamb and PJ3 are both lottery-caliber players whose talents are getting wasted on the OKC bench/D-League. This year's draft is garbage and there isn't a player in this draft I wouldn't trade for OKC's rookies. That includes Shabazz, Zeller, Noel, Bennett, McLemore, etc. PJ3 fits our needs at the 4 perfectly, while I remain convinced Lamb is the perfect fit between MKG and Kemba in the future as a sharpshooter and all-around scorer. Plus we won't need to pay them until 2016.

This also frees up our 2014 (and beyond) plans.

Yeah but OKC as already said that Lamb is their future player star at sport 2... Still do'nt get why he's in the D-league...

I was thinking to a trade involving some of the rumors ...
At that appeal to me: Image

What about that ?
Charlotte cleary turns out to be one of the winners, what about the other ?

(BTW: I mooved JJ Hickson away from Portland even if he's playing well because they said he isn't in the Blazers long term plans and that they'd likely trade him for something than let him go for nothing at the end of the season).

As much as I want Jeremy Lamb on our team, I would have to say no to this trade. I don't see Perry Jones III as anything more than a Jeff Green clone at best. Kendrick Perkins is dead weight almost equivalent to if not to a lesser degree of Brendan Haywood. No need to mention the fodder that goes by the names DeShawn Stevenson and Johan Petro.

You are trying to win now. The Bobcats are not trying to win now. They are trying to win for the next ten years starting in about two years. A thirty year old vet like Pau who makes 19 million per year doesn't fit in to those plans.

Charlotte saves some money and gets some nice pieces to add to their young roster, building around Walker, Knight, MKG, Monroe, and Drummond. Also get expirings for TT's contract. The Detroit pick would have to be unprotected for this year's draft to make it fair though. They could potentially draft McLemore and Zeller perhaps, shifting two career bench players, Knight and Monroe to the bench for heavy minutes off of the bench.

Next year's potential key lineup for Charlotte:

Walker/Knight
McLemore/Knight
MKG/Taylor
Drummond/Monroe
Zeller/Monroe

Detroit does this because they get proven players with Henderson, Biyombo, and Thomas. Warrick is a great piece off of the bench as well.

Stuckey/Bynum
Singler/English
Prince/Middleton
Thomas/Warrick
Biyombo/Kravstov

It's a win win for everyone.

Guy posted on Bonnells twitter saying there was an ESPN rumor apparently on Insider that stated that we had/might be in talks about MKG and Gordonn for Rudy Gay. I doubt its true, but if a trade like this went through I won't ever be posting here again.

I would be fine with a Gay and Speights for Diop and Gordon trade. Lets them out of some cap and we get a solid if overpaid player. Gay would be our focus on offense and Speights would be an upgrade at PF. MKG and Gay could play at the same time because MKG has the quickness to guard SGs.
