Those are the exact situations that the top scorers get stuck in regularly. I remember someone accusing Lebron of deliberately taking desperation shots just a fraction late so they wouldn't count against him. No idea if this was true or not.

I see what you were getting at. That kind of thing definitely happens a lot in the NBA.
