Come on, the whole premise of these threads is to be knee-jerk and to rank the players as of RIGHT NOW, and at the time of the voting, Melo was playing like a top 4 player. Many of the people that didn't vote for him said that they still understood him going at 4.

Chill with this "OMG, Melo at 4????!!!!!" stuff. Is he still #4? No, I'd go with Kobe and Harden over him at this point (but if we're going to judge people off their last couple of games...Kobe has looked pretty bad too). But at the time, he was absolutely playing like a top 4ish player.

Something that takes 3 months to complete shouldn't vary weekly.

We're doing these twice a season. Once around the first 3rd of the season and once around the end of the season and into the postseason.

Obviously, we're expecting some variation especially with the first one of the season.

I don't think people are just saying "Oh this player has been hot for two weeks, he goes way up my rankings". After the first 1/3, if players haven't already come down after a hot start then you can legitimately say that the player has taken the next step or has stepped up their play. That's why people vote for the people that they've voted for.

Part of the reason why we're doing this is because it's just fun to rank players and argue with people, but another main part is that it serves as a good way to look at the ebb and flow of the players over several seasons.

I will post a Google Doc of the the history of our results probably at the end of this ranking and keep updating it with every time we do another edition.

It's ok if players are ranked higher or lower than what we're used to and it's ok if we disagree.
