I wonder if Najera feels more loyalty to us or the Mavs. He was always a likeable guy and had solid defensive instincts for a big, and that kind of stuff can be taught well past athletic ability going kaput

Catch 22, I noticed you mentioned a couple days ago you'd be interested in Sean Williams. He played in the Texas Legends game. He's not looking too good. Slump shouldered, stumbling, slow running the court, spastic trying to pass the ball, like a 40 yr old guy trying to play pickup ball down at the playground. 2 rbs/2 pts -8 in 17 mins in a game his team won by 20. What's happened to him?

I noticed that too. He looks defeated now. The last time I seen him was during Summer League for the Celtics and he was beasting on the boards, blocking shots, and making hustle plays. I guess he's been blowing too much loudpack during his time off or something life-changing happened to him overseas because he doesn't look anything like or near the athletic big I remember him being coming out of BC. He was something like Drummond before Drummond.

updated comments on Jerome Jordan and Hassan Whiteside, looking like the best 7 footers available, after yesterday's games

Showcase Day 1: Out of the 80-plus players in action on Monday, nobody impacted the game like Jordan, who fires up the Prospect Watch as the league's top center. Though he only grabbed six rebounds tonight, he blocked three shots and pried a succession of Armor bigs out of the lane. On the offensive end, he went to the line 12 times -- as defenders had no choice but to hack him -- en route to 22 points.

Showcase Day 1: The former Kings big man only played 20 minutes, but he made himself known to pretty much anybody who came into the lane, going for 19 points and 17 boards. The guy can jump. He also looks to have bulked up a little bit, and continually beat his defenders -- including Robert Sacre -- to the ball, earning himself a couple put-backs. His scoring wasn't all garbage buckets, either, with a couple workable post moves thrown in.

Hassan Whiteside has my interest 8-)

I don't even think we had a pick in the draft of 2010 when he entered.

At this point, why the F not? Bring him on for the remainder of the season and if his knees don't shatter like glass, perhaps we have a serviceable defensive big on our roster next year (even though if he panned out, he's likely fly the coop).

I'm down for overpaying for Mr. Glass being that that's probably the only way we'll land him, to outbid the rest of the league. It can't be any riskier than hoping Biyombo pan out to be a starting caliber center.

Im probably going to be crucified for this... But given how terrible our D has been so far I would love for us to take a chance on Oden if he is willing to come on a cheap contract (perhaps a 10 day deal?). If there is even a 10% chance that he could return to his former state then he would be worth taking a shot on. And to be fair- its not like we are so stacked with talent that Oden wouldn't get a legitimate chance to show whether he could play or not.

Can't see why you would get crucified. Charlotte should sign him, run him around in the D-League for about 5-10 games as almost like a "preseason" for him, and then call him up.

If we signed Oden I wouldn't even feel comfortable risking his health in the D-League. Just throw him out there. He can't be any rawer or rustier than Biyombo.

But you can't expect him to be up to speed right away. It would be a needed evil.

If it wasn't for his bad knees, Oden could've easily been the best center in the NBA today, even better than Dwight Howard. I wonder what type of money will teams throw at him. I'm sure he'll get a minimum deal if he were to get signed this season but I wonder how much can he demand during the offseason.

Cleveland, Charlotte, Washington, Sacramento, New York, Miami, and Brooklyn. I don't think any will "throw money at him". But those are the teams I could see bringing him in/showing the most interest. I'm probably missing a team or two, but I think those would be the 1st ones.

hansbrough needed in charlotte?

Only thing I'd want to see Hansbrough do in Charlotte is get punched by someone. He'd probably help our team but I can't stand that guy.

I loved Tyler in college but I'm not sure what assets we'd have to offer.

This is kinda off topic, but is anyone else being asked to have a Press+ account when accessing the Observer website?

Observer Online switching to a $12 per year subscription. Their print subscriber base has dwindled to nothing so they're getting desperate. While $1/month isnt alot to ask, I dont see this ending well for them.

No to Psycho-T. He might give us some wins this year, since we need hustle and rebounding. Develop Biz and see if there is something there.
Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi
