Ray Allen is the key

Post#1 » by bball34 » Tue Jan 15, 2013 3:10 am

Lebron and DWade need to share the ball. Let Ray Ray shoot, or this game is over.

I'm sure they wouldn't. Considering wade is by far the best player in the deal and saves them money.

Ray Allen is the problem. His defense is horrid and when he's not hitting shots he's really not adding anything for this team.

that being said, I hope Miami signs a damn big, because that is also a big problem. We knew Ray Allen couldn't play defense when he signed here, and that's what we've gotten.

If we had a rebounding big ray wouldn't be a problem. See also no one complains about Jr Smith or Jamal Crawford's d.

Both of those guys' numbers don't look too good because Memphis plays so slow.

Given their ages and Memphis' recent hiring of Hollinger I don't see Memphis taking this deal.

Jamal Crawfords defense gets masked by Deandre Jordan, he's usually there to compete at the rim if Crawford gets beaten.

Also JR Smith isn't a bad defender and that's coming from a Smith hater. He's actually quite decent.

Smith is a decent defender when he's in the mood.

Ray Allen is no key. He just needs to hit his threes and not get too comfortable out of his role like he usually likes to because he's far too turnover prone.

Remember, there's a reason why Boston easily favored Avery Bradley and also signed Jet without much hesitation. Ray's a huge liability on defense and can't do much but shoot. I don't know what you guys expect from him? If he gives around 12.5 ppg a game i'm more than satisfied.

He scores a lot in those floaters and drives to the lane. Hes our only shooter who is a threat to drive or shoot a mid range.

This.

He isn't "the" problem. Far from it. As inconsistent as he has been lately, he has been our most consistent off the bench scorer in the Big 3 Era, and like THB said, is considered at least somewhat of a threat.

Guys have been hitting daggers over him in a majority of our close losses. They either beat him to the middle, step back and shoot, or just shoot a J in his face. He does not have the legs/quickness anymore to put up good contests to those shots. He tries but it is not enough. We knew coming here that he is/was a bad defender. So is Crawford (albeit though his quickness is better than Allen's), and JET. The thing is they have defensive minded bigs that erase their mistakes (DeAndre and KG to a smaller extent).

Having a good presence in the middle would stop a lot of those guard dribble penetration scoring/play making (passing out to the man of the help defender for a three, etc.) instances.

Can't compare Ray withamal or JR because the latter two can create their own shot so they have more value than someone who just spots up. Ray Allen is much easier to defend.

Ray creates his own shot. And is the best shooter of all time. Steve Kerr didn't defend but the bulls still won titles with him.

Our problem isn't ray. Its bosh and wade.
