OT: NBA Fantasy Basketball Leagues

Post#1 » by Major Giz » Wed Jan 16, 2013 7:05 pm

I'm very interested in being involved in an NBA Fantasy Basketball League.

1. Is it too late for this year?
2. What is the best free one? Not sure if I want to pay until I get the hang of it.
3. Roto, Standard, etc.?
4. What to avoid?

I'm always looking at box scores and think it would interest me.

Thanks for any help!

1) Leagues generally start formulating near the beginning of October (maybe even early Sept).
2) People either play on Yahoo or ESPN. You don't have to pay, unless the league you're playing in (ie: with friends) has a buy-in.
3) Roto/H2h (head to head) you can go read up on what style of play you like more... go search espn fantasy basketball tips or sometihng)
4) More like draft/bid on players who can contribute in as many stat categories as possible

Hope that helps. There's also a fantasy basketball board on realgm.

Cheers.

As far as skill is concerned, auction roto leagues are the only ones that accurately measure skill. Anything else is a crapshoot to varying degrees.

Yes, it's too late. IMO your best bet is to find a veteran league who may need a new owner. Throw your hat in, get first dibs. But again, very few leagues are auction, so don't take it too seriously. It's just a game.
