And Lin was torched too...that dribble penetration w/ their shooters murdered us. They shot 58% from three, and 53% for the game. We took 37 threes...
Agreed. I know it's his first year as a #1 option, but I think the team follows his lead on offense and defense at times.
If we get a #2 option PF eventually, I hope he's a leader by example on defense.

Clippers shot 54% FG and 58% 3pt. For the season, the Rockets are allowing opponents to shoot 46% FG (7th worst in the NBA) and 37% 3pt (5th worst in the NBA).
This team needs to focus on defense. And it needs to start with their best player James Harden. He needs to be the leader and role model for the rest of the team.

Re: ROCKETS VS. CLIPPERS Jan. 15, 7:00pm
It seems like every time we suffer one of these losses, I find myself saying, "Parsons [and potentially Harden] were the only ones that played well." Then I also remember during our winning streak(s), Parsons was slightly struggling w/ his shot. So, I checked, and funny enough, Parsons actually averages 3 more PPG in our losses (on similar shooting), than in our wins. Now I don't think it's indicative of anything, because Parsons still does 13/6/4 in our wins, but just kind of funny, I thought.
But, that prompted me to check out some of the other Rockets..
Harden in wins: 28.5 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 5.8 APG on .495/.376/.879
Harden in losses: 23.9 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 4.6 APG on .406/.310/.826
Pretty obvious...when Harden is forced to take more contested 3's, we lose.
Delfino in wins: 10.3 PPG on .466/.451/.800
Delfino in losseses: 9.8 PPG on .336/.301/.800
*Note: We are 18-12 w/ Delfino in the lineup. So, either he's one of the best shooters in the NBA, or literally perhaps the worst chucking shooter in the league. What's odd is Delfino averages MORE shot attempts per game in our losses, than in our wins.
Lin has roughly the same in wins/losses, except for one major thing. In our wins, Lin shoots 46% overall, while only shoots 38% in our losses (and does score slightly more ~1-2 PPG).
And in our wins, Asik does 11.2/11.5 on 57% opposed to 9.2/10.6 on 47% in our losses.
Patterson is in the same boat as Delfino, kinda. In our wins, he's doing 12/5 on 54/44/71 and in our losses, he's only doing 11/4 on 47/25/80. And in our wins, he only takes 9 shot attempts per game, while in our losses - he takes roughly 11 shot attempts per game. Key? Don't let Patterson shoot. It's also worth mentioning, whenever Patterson plays, we are an UNDER .500 team with him in the lineup...15-16 w/ Patterson.
Surprisingly, Morris is considerably WORSE shooting the ball in our wins, opposed to our losses. Morris does 8/4 on 44/34/65 in our wins, and 10/4 on 44/41/65 in our losses.
Douglas is what you'd expect...when he plays well, we more likely have won so far. Does roughly 10 PPG in our wins on 43/41/91 while only 7 PPG on 37/39/81.
And to NO ONES surprise....when Greg Smith gets more minutes, the more we've won. In our losses, Smith averages 11.7 MPG doing 4/4 in those games. And in our wins, Smith gets roughly 16 MPG doing 8/4 on 68% in those games. And it's worth noting that we're 20-14 when Smith plays.
