so the Bobcats trade away one or two of Biyombo, Henderson or Taylor, for older expirings and the right to unprotect their pick owed to the Bulls. remind me what the advantage is to them?

This thread is spiraling out of control. This is almost as bad as the threads last year which required a change of policy

Idk ask the people who started the rumor.

I've liked Thompson for a while but he's not a great defender and his offensive game is hit or miss. Unless Henderson is coming to the Bulls its not worth considering

It might be because they don't see any potential difference makers at the top of this years lottery, so they would rather have all their picks moving forward when they think they can select someone they're higher on than in this years draft class.

Although, I have a hard time believe the bobcats will willingly trade away a top 5 pick this year just because they aren't that high on a prospect this year.

Now, if they do offer their pick this year unprotected than I would do that trade in a heartbeat. The potential to add a top 5 lottery talent to the roster sooner rather than later is in valuable to rose and our championship window.

Game Ball in this thread goes to Man Strength

Yet the reported rumor from Red / Ralph seems to have the Cats orchestrating / driving this.

I struggle to see where the value/logic is for the Cats

Only way I see it approaching some sense for the Cats is dealing the rights to Portland's pick instead

In which case they are pissing into the wind.

And from the Bulls pov - JT and Jimmer aren't putting us over the top with a recovered Derrick added to the rest of this squad.

Jimmer 's contract doesn't make sense nor does JT's

I'd prefer Withey or Dieng with our pick over JT to play the role of 4th or 5th big

And I'd prefer Rip , Marco or JJ back at around $2m per over Jimmer at the same cost

None of this is worth it from the Bulls pov if it's the rights to the Portland pick and we get middling players back who will be deep rotation players at best

All of this seems ill conceived

I don't think anyone is saying that the trade makes sense for the Bobcats just that if we get to use the Bobcats pick this year then the Bulls should definitely do it.

Jason Thompson, Jeff Taylor & a 1st round pick IN?
It would have to be the pick from POR, that would be a steal if its the Bobcats...

OUT goes Rip, Nazr, and, coveted Cha 1st pick?

Hmmmmmm

I wanted to draft Jeff Taylor instead of Teague, So I'd be happy with him...Ecstatic actually..

Would love Thomas Robinson, but, again...That's a steal

I'm thinking I want a little bit more...cause it really boils down to how much our CHA pick is valued...Is this fair value for a lotto pick?

I'd pull the trigger and have a young PF/C and SG/SF, with 2 1st round picks.. not bad..

Rose- Hinrich- Nate- Teague
Marco- Taylor- Cook
Deng- Butler
Boozer- Taj
Noah- Thompson

Ok.......This thread is about a rumor about the bulls possibly getting the 2013 bobcats pick, that's why people are talking about even if it isn't realistic.

The Bobcats want their pick freed to be traded before the deadline. The pick the Bobcats give up will not be their pick, it would be the Portland pick. The Bobcats DO NOT OWN their 2013 pick free and clear to be traded until after the draft lottery. The Bulls own the pick until certain guidelines are met to retain it.

The Bobcats want that pick back to package it with Tyrus Thomas. A team with cap space will take that price for a top 5 pick. No the Bobcats 2013 pick is not the pick they are trying to package.

I would trade for Thompson/jimmer/Blazers pick for Rip/Nazr/And their 2013 pick back free and clear

I don't think I would. I don't like Thompson. I don't see him as a plus in this deal. Given the Bulls salary constraints, I don't see how paying your 4th big man 6 million a year is a good plan. And I don't like the idea of amnestying Boozer to make room for Thompson.

If the rumor is true and the trade does not happen before the trade deadline, I can see both teams will revisit the discussions come draft night especially if the Bobcats Pick is between 3-5. Swapping the 2013 picks plus the Bulls returning the pick back to Charlotte may be the deal, and will allow them to draft a future backcourt mate for Rose, whether it will be McLemore or Shabazz.

Pretty sure Jason Thompson is significantly shorter than his listed 6'11". Some speculate that he's closer to 6'8", which probably explains why he didn't take part in the pre-draft measurements.

Quick dumb question...so say Charlotte sends us POR 2013 pick which is top 12 protected I believe, and they land on pick 11. What happens then? We don't get the pick this year obviously, but do we get their pick next year unprotected? Sorry, I'm ignorant when it comes to draft picks.

I believe Portland's pick is top 12 protected for the next three drafts (2013, 2014, 2015) and unprotected in 2016.

I still don't see the advantage of this from Charlotte's perspective. Charlotte is a team with cap space and they can still amnesty Tyrus next year if they want. Seems a lot easier just to let Tyrus rot on the bench until he has value as an expiring or amnesty if you need to free up space to sign a FA that year.

I believe Portland's pick is top 12 protected for the next three drafts (2013, 2014, 2015) and unprotected in 2016.

If this is the pick their offering then I deff would say no to the deal. You might as well hang on to the CHA pick, it might turn into something good, (prospect, or trade value). Plus Thompson and Fredette aren't worth a chance at a top lottery talent in 2016. Now if they said Evans plus POR 2013 pick then I'd be interested.

This. I rather take my chances on the Bobcats pick than settle for mediocre guys, who probably aren't taking us over the top. Now if it's someone with potential(Evans), then yes I'm intrigued.
