My plan to contend in 2 years

Post#1 » by vege » Mon Jan 14, 2013 7:17 am

Yeah people will hate this because this idea includes a Knight trade but whatever :D

at this season's dead line do a 3 teams trade with Indiana and Toronto

Detroit Out: Rodney Stuckey / Tayshaun Prince and Brandon Knight
Detroit In: Danny Granger and Kyle Lowry

They add all star talents at the wing and point guard. The upgrades should be enough for them to make the playoffs imo.

Indiana Out: Danny Granger
Indiana In: Rodney Stuckey and Tayshaun Prince

They decide to go with George at SF and that Granger no longer make their team better. They do clear upgrades and continue with what has been working for them this season. Stuckey is a big upgrade over Stephenson at the starting lineup and Prince is a clear upgrade over Green on the second unit.

Toronto Out: Kyle Lowry
Toronto In: Brandon Knight

They liked Knight the year he got drafted and Calderon is doing extremely well during Lowry's absence. They decide to commit to Calderon being their leader going forward and extend him next season, this would give them enough time to bring Knight patiently and help him to reach his full potential without hurt their team.

Next season we won't have a first round pick. We waive Kravtsov to save 1 million in cap space, we sign Tonny Allen for 2 years 6 mil per year and Speights for the same contract. We sign Billups for 2 years 3 million a year. We keep bringing Drummond off the bench but we give him starter minutes.

Speights and Allen are playing for a formidable defensive team this season and they are a big part of it, they'd bring this culture back to Detroit. Lowry is one of the best defensive PGs and is a very good PG. Granger is a solid scorer and would help Monroe a lot. Lowry also can score. They're both above average 3 point shooters and Allen can hit open 3's as well which would also help Monroe and Drummond immensely.

We would roll with the team for 2 seasons and hope for good things to happen :P

Monroe / Drummond
Speights / CV / Jonas
Granger / Singler / Middleton
Allen / English
Lowry / Billups

Danny Granger $14,021,788
C Villanueva $ 8,580,000
Kyle Lowry $ 6,210,000
Jonas Jerebko $ 4,500,000 $ 4,500,000
Greg Monroe $ 4,086,454
Andre Drummond $ 2,462,400 $ 2,568,360
Kyle Singler $ 1,045,000 $ 1,090,000
Kim English $ 788,872
Khris Middleton $ 788,872 $ 915,243

V Kravtsov* $ 500,000

$42,983,386

Tony Allen $ 6,000,000 $ 6,000,000
Chauncey Billups $ 3,000,000 $ 3,000,000
Marreese Speights $ 6,000,000 $ 6,000,000

2013 - $57,983,386 2014 - $24,073,603

*waived

They would have plenty of room under the LT to give big contracts to Monroe, Granger and Lowry and still have a good team around those 3.

I am good with that, except the Billups part. I think he is too old and often injured to be the only backup PG on any team. I loved him when he was here but I think the times of him being a player you can count on for consistent minuets (15-20 a game) are over. I would hate to see him come here and be either injured or infective and be a shadow of what he was. I also do not see him interested in joining a rebuilding team. He can play short spurts with a contender and get another ring in the process. He might come here when he is ready to retire, and I would be open to that for a vet. min. type deal.

I like it.
I think that team can push any team in the east given the frontcourt depth.
it would nice to be relevant again without losing Dre and Moose.
I don't think billips gives us mch though. there's probably more reliable guys available.

Even if we don't do the whole trade, i like the idea of signing Speights. he'd be a good addition.

No, I can't see Granger in a Piston uniform...On the other hand, Lowry would be a good player to mentor Knight...I also like the idea of acquiring Speights...

I think Granger has a much higher value than Rodney+Tay.

I think teams would be looking to offer more than the Pistons could for Granger. I dont like Allen or Sprieghs at 6 mill per. Spre isn't even doing much now. Why overpay him? I'm ok dealing Knight but I want a wing scorer in return.

I'd love this roster, but why is Drummond still coming off the bench?

Would make for an interesting build. I would sign off.

Funny thing is that hardly any teams each year make trades. Most teams try to develop the talent they have thru the draft and just sign a few Free Agents.

This is why I find trades like this one proposed to be more 2k13 video game mode as opposed to realistic. But, that is RealGM for ya. We just dream of fantastical trades that wouldn't happen in the real world. It is not that the owners are capable of signing off, it is that teams do not move players as often or moreover make multiple trades with starting caliber players. Rarely even see that in a single season.

I doubt a young guy like Knight would be moved in a trade like this unless there were Chemistry issues. I seriously doubt an Interconference trade involving the Pacers and the Pistons would happen like that.

But, I would like to play some 2K13 with this lineup!

Fit. Monroe and Speights would fit great together and Drummond and CV are great together.

Good playoff team, which is okay and enough, but not a real contender for title imo. That team has a shot at it but it would surprise most fans. Like Indiana or Memphis, team already involves key players from them. Drummond have potential to change that though.

I think we have the assets to accomplish this lineup...
C- Drummond, Kaman, Austin, Kravs
PF- Aldridge, CV (dealt next year), Austin
SF- Chandler, Singler, Middleton
SG- Knight, English, Middleton
PG- Collison, Knight, Chauncey

^Man, Knight starting at the 2 would be a disaster waiting to happen...What we need is a good SG who can assist and efficiently shot the ball...

LOLOLOLOLOLOL. Good one. I doubt Portland would take Knight and Monroe together for Aldridge.

It's Stuckey & Monroe for D.A.... doesn't seem too far fetched.

So, Stuckey and Monroe is a better offer than Knight and Monroe. Actually, I think Aldridge is worth more than Knight and Monroe. There is a difference in a player a team can build around and win with over starting caliber players. Aldridge is a stud and worth more than just about any (2) players on this team outside of Drummond if I was Portland. Lilliard and Aldridge is something to build upon.

Let's go back in time. If this was posted after Moose's dominant game against the Bucks you'd be singing a different tune BMP. Trade value doesn't fluctuate on a trade by trade basis

I think knight would be great starting at the 2,hes quick ,good defender, great shooter and I think he would be good driving the lane. The only question I have is,is he strong enough and I think he is.Like I have said give him a couple months so we can get a small sample size of what it would look like.
