A better defensive Corey Maggette is in his prime isn't exactly a bad thing.

Except that Gay is nowhere near the scorer that prime Maggette was. Old Maggette, perhaps.

Maggette in 2012: 51.7 TS%, 27.4 USG%
Gay in 2013: 48.9 TS%, 25.3 USG%

And, of course, Maggette's never made nearly as much as Gay is and will.
Humble yourself.

I'd forgotten how bad Mek's contract is...I'd definitely do it for a Wizards first rounder though.

Charlotte in: Okafor, Jordan Crawford
Charlotte out: Gana, Turtle

Washington in: Rudy Gay
Washington out: Okafor, Crawford

Memphis in: Diop, Turtle, Ariza
Memphis out: Gay

Why for us: Wiz give us a sweet pick for taking their bad contract in Okafor, which sucks but he at least will help address some immediate rebounding woes and becomes an attractive expiring next year. With our bounty of picks, we can package up on draft day and own this weak draft, bringing home Shabazz/McLemore and a Bennett/Noel.

Why for Memphis: Cap relief galore, don't skip much of a beat by adding Ariza so they can still scrap and grind their way to the playoffs.

Why for Washington: They're batchit crazy and are desperate to assemble a playoff roster. Wall, Beal, Gay, Seraphin, and Nene might get it done in the weak East and they're still trying to convince Wall to stay.

The whole point of trading Gay for MEM is to cut salary. They would never ship him out and add on even more. They want to get below the lux tax, which I believe they are about 4 mil over.

Ilyasova is a decent stretch 4 that can rebound and defend but he would turn into a Tyrus-like disappointment with us when considering his $8 million contract per for the next 5 years.

last year of his deal is a team option at least. I hear you, but he is such a different player than Tyrus. Ersan has proven to some degree his ability, Tyrus was always a projection.

I think its really important to get a 4 who can shoot threes to pair with MKG, for floor spacing reasons alone.

There is no way that we would deserve Okafor, Crawford and a first round pick for giving up Diop and Reggie. It would make more sense for Memphis to get the first rounder in this deal. And if we werent getting the first rounder this deal would be horrible for us. We lose our cap space for this offseason in those expirings and basically equivalent to giving Okafor a 1 year deal 14 million deal and a cheap chucker in Jordan Crawford.

I think we're rating a guy that averages 17.6 ppg on 42% shooting and 31% from three in 36 mpg pretty realistically.

You say all of that but he's the leading scorer on a team that has the 5th best record in the NBA.

If he's so good then Why is MEmphis trying so desperately to dump him? Why is an advanced stats huy like Hollinger so down on him? Gay's per and TS% are atrocious, they're worse than Demar Derozans at nearly twice the cost. lol at using leading scorer as the defining metric; that's as bad as defining a starting pitcher by w's/l's.

Thats a nice player. Maggette could get buckets whenever he wanted by driving the lane, but he couldn't guard a bucket of piss.

not sure how realistic this is for each partner, but id be happy to throw in the Port pick somewhere, or a 2nd.

Bobcats in - Millsap, Gordon Hayward, Jimmy Butler, Greg Smith,
Bobcats out - Diop, Henderson, Taylor

We would do this with the idea to re-sign millsap. Hayward can play the 2 or the 3 and will improve our shooting. Butler is a great rebounder for his position. Smith should start over Biyombo immediately (mostly because biyombo sucks). start reshaping the roster now. Besides millsap everyone is one extremely reasonable multi year deals.

Utah in - diop, Henderson, pick of some sort
Utah out - Millsap, Hayward, Carroll

Houston in - Carroll
Houston out - Smith

Bulls In - Taylor
Bulls out - Butler

*we could also cut Chicago out and send taylor to Houston.

Wait, so Utah gives up Milsap, Henderson and Demarre Carrol and gets Hendo and Gana? Why on earth would they do that? That's a disgusting trade for them. When proposing trades, you have to factor in the pov of all the teams involved, not just your own.

Would anyone trade B Haywood to the Heat for Phillies pick, & either Jones, or Pitmans expiring?

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=bajgdb3

Charlotte: Rudy Gay

Pacers: Ben Gordon + Byron Mullens + POR pick + Memphis 2nd round pick

Memphis: Danny Granger

Then you can develop MKG more gradually at SF, switch him to SG or spin him to SAC as a centerpiece for Demarcus Cousins.

An trade that is actually decent for all parties involved. The thing is Rudy Gay is so inefficient and his per and TS% are terrible. He'll be making $20 million in two years; just not worth it.

Well I actually posted this idea on the Bucks board, and there is some interest on their end for a deal resembling the one above.

its funny too, because others on here say that is too much to give up (mountbiyombo) - which is absurd.

Id give up more for ersan, but I dont think it would take too much more.
