Sam Smith : I’ve gotten a few emails about Jason Thompson this week, so this is where it comes from. Obviously, it is some writer who has no understanding of the Bulls roster or the NBA who is making something up. First of all, the Bulls just extended Taj Gibson. Why then would they want someone like Thompson, who is another Gibson. Plus, Thompson has a long contract that effectively would limit the ability of the Bulls to sign Mirotic. Have you seen Biyombo? Haven’t seen much indication he can play. And knowing Charlotte wants that pick back suggests you’d want to keep it as that would mean Charlotte may know come 2016 they might be losing one of the top three picks in the draft. For Tyrus Thomas. That would be sweet.

^Its not that sweet when you have to wait 10 years to get the pick.

And if the Bulls get Thompson, they don't need mirotic if he even comes over 2 years from now.

Honestly I don't give a rats behind about some Euro who we don't even kno can play nba ball. We waited years for Asik and he left us empty handed for a big contract.

The Bulls need a backup center right now and Thompson could be a backup center right now.

I'll take my chances on the Euro who won MVP over a undersized poor man's Taj Gibson....

I don't think Sam realizes that the 4th big is just a bonus, the big prize is the pick (again, if it's Charlotte's 2013 pick)

If Thompson is undersized, then what is Taj Gibson?
Thompson is 6'11.

Exactly, so why do we need another one?

Taj is doing just fine in backing up Noah.

A small sample size, but Niko has already proven he can play in the NBA.Remember the pre season games with Toronto and Memphis?? he was quite impressive.

If taj is backing up noah, then who is backing up Boozer?
The frontline is being stretched too thin. Foul trouble injuries or even plain fatigue will give u a healthy dose of nazr muhammad who is also undersized.

And fyi Nazr is shooting 16% from the field.

Asik as a backup was one dimensional. Thompson as a backup center is more dynamic since he could give matchup problems at Pf.

Maybe I'm guilty of wanting to win now. With the Bulls crap flameout last season I admittedly have a lack of patience with these nonfruitful assets.

Steve Kerr was on BS report last week and was very high on Jimmer. Said he was in awful situation in Sacramento.

There is nothing wrong with long term investment. You don't want a financial portfolio completely focusing on short term monies. Just look at a contrast between teams that give away picks for mediocre upgrades (2000s Knicks) and teams more focused on long term sustainability (2000s Spurs). It makes no sense to get rid of the pick just to get a big for foul trouble in the playoffs. The return is not worth it in this case. Especially when you lose a good shooting guard in the process. You are rearranging deck chairs and giving up a pick to do it.

im with the others, i dont see how rip for morrow helps at all

we seriously need a quality starting shooting guard, and honestly morrow is no different than cook, just another player with 1 thing they can do well but not good enough to start and another player wade and jr smith would feast on.

rather trade rip to fill an obvious void, then just let jimmy, marco and cook split the sg minutes. with jimmy you getting the defense and with marco you getting some offense, with some ball handling and some decent defense.

if we cant find a way to use rip, the tpe, a pick or a package close to that to get tyreke evans, oj mayo, eric gordon or a sg of that caliber over here, than just flip rip for a back up center, and lets just hope jimmy and marco dont freeze up in the offs.
