Re: Conference Championships Thread
You basically contradicted yourself when you said that they aren't that good and then said how missing Gronk didn't really help.
Had Gronk been healthy, I would have expected the game to be very different.

No even with gronkowski they still would've lost. The score might've been closer.

Re: Conference Championships Thread
i don't think there is a player in nfl that would make up a 14 point differential. patriots just weren't firing in all cylinders on offense, and their defense has big holes.

Re: Conference Championships Thread
Gronkowski himself might not have been able to score that 14 points, but his presence could have affected how his teammates played. It would have affected how the defense played. There's no guarantee that the results would have been different, but I wouldn't completely rule it out.

whereas Balt plays Pitt and has to face that adversary pressure constantly against that team
No the patriots just aren't that good, i knew they had no chance whatsoever to win this game and go to the super bowl again. Besides they beat baltimore last year, also having gronkowki out didn't help much..
I agree they weren't as good as their regular season record and domination seemed to indicate. In a strange way they remind me of the San Antonio Spurs of the last few years. Dominate the regular season, but just aren't that scary of a team in the playoffs.

if gronk were in, i imagine the patriots still would have lost. they sucked out there. gronk doesn't seem like he'd be enough to make up for a pretty awful performance on each side of the ball. the patriots aren't good enough to win the super bowl in this era and they look very deflated at this point.
real gm logic;
"kobe scored 48 points tonight"
"^small sample size"
"kobe scored 48 points tonight"
"^small sample size"

For the love of...
Some of you are right, gronk may not have made a huge difference, but in the last 6 seasons the patriots have been to two Super Bowls and have lost by a combined total of what 6 pts? Lets stop acting like they're getting blown out in the playoffs. It happened twice, in 2009 where they had no business being there and 2010 where mark Sanchez outplayed Brady, so again let's crown mark as elite? Heck were crowning flacco all because he put up points against a crappy defense.
That game wasn't even a blow out like carmelofan predicted, people were still worried with 4 mins left down 14 that the pats had a chance because the game was close all night and they have been the most dominant team of the last 10 plus years.
I can't wait to see elite flacco deal with the Niners defense.

Re: Conference Championships Thread
Since we are on the subject of NE, this Niners team is similar to the 01 Patriot team. Head coach, QB change, stacked defense. I won't say destiny, and it is early, but I think they win.

Playing the Bills, Jets, and Dolphins 6 times per year can hurt with the Patriots looking good in the regular season and getting a high seed.

They played garbage teams all of last season too. They made the super bowl although i think they were destined to lose again to the gmen. The score should've been 27-23 ravens because lee evans caught the winning touchdown pass but some guy knocked it out of hsi hands.

Not sure about destiny... But the AFC East is def the easiest division in the NFL.

The East is a joke no doubt. But they did beat Denver, Texans twice, and Colts. All of there losses (minus playoff game) where very close games too.
