george is one of few players id happily trade mkg for.

I would have to kindly disagree. Paul George is a very talented player that has improved a lot over his 3 years in the NBA but I believe that MKG potentially has a higher ceiling. This topic is irrelevant anyway because the Pacers wouldn't be interested even if we included the Portland pick. They're happy with him as a cornerstone.

indeed no chance of the pacers trading george for mkg. just saying...

I like George, and I think he's better than MKG, but he's also three years older.

George's rookie year: 7.8 pts, 0.4 blx, 1.0 stl, 1.1 ast, 3.7 reb. 45%/76%/30%
MKG so far this year: 10.2 pts, 1.1 blx, 0.7 stl, 1.7 ast, 6.2 reb. 48%/75%/29%

I'll keep MKG.

im more inclined to look at per 36 numbers since George earned 7 minutes less per game his rookie year than what MKG is currently getting (at about the same age too). their numbers are fairly similar, perhaps with a slight edge to MKG in that scenario. again, i dont see MKG becoming a legit shooter for 3-4 years at a minimum, whereas George turned the corner in year two.

Sériously, we need to keep MKG in town ! I like the idee of comparing him to Pippen.

How about Thomas, Henderson, and Williams for Josh Smith (Overpay him after season if needed) and a pick?

Josh Smith wouldn't re-sign with us. He's already the face of the Hawks so he's not looking to be "the man" on a lesser team. He'll likely sign with whichever contender or big market team that can clear enough space to offer him close to the max.

You don't win by overpaying talent that won't make you significantly better. You don't want an albatross over your head. Look what's happening to Memphis. They had to dismantle their bench just to hold onto their sub-All-Star, Rudy Gay.

Adrien cannot play the third spot...
He barely make a shoot... (Ok that's more than MKG but Adrien is a 4)

I am probably gonna get bashed for this but how about Henderson and Thomas for Okafor and a few picks? Remember this is the same team that wanted both Okafor and Nene on the same roster.....

How about Thomas, Gordon, Henderson, and Williams for Gasol and Meeks and then hold Gasol over OKC's head and make them pay top dollar to have the one they know could get them over the hump? Lol it would mean a lot of young players coming to us if they bite :)

And to be honest what the Lakers would be getting would get them to the Playoffs somewhere that they don't look like they're headed right now, the players they'd be getting would make them a bit deeper and remember the system they're playing now, so Gordon, Henderson, Williams, and even Thomas could possibly thrive!

I would rather use the 13 million for an established scorer instead of Milsap. I like him better and feel adding big-time rebounding on the front court in Noel is the best use of resources because he pairs well with Cousins who can take care of the scoring. With Cousins you don't really need Milsap's offense.

Also, you can't trade the 2014 pick for Cousins because of the outstanding pick to the Bulls for Tyrus Thomas. That is why I think you have to consider Rudy Gay in the offseason as your established scorer, draft Shabazz or McLemore and trade MKG for Cousins and keep the 2014 because you have to and you should still roll the dice for Wiggins.

Without the luxury of dealing the 2014 pick how else are you going to get Cousins?

The future first that the Grizzlies would send the Cavs is a 2015 first.

This gets the Grizzlies under the luxury tax.

We can stop talking about those Gay trade now.

Until the summer...

That contract is still killing the flexibility of their roster. They apparently decided to make one last run with Gay it seems. I bet they look to trade it because they need the wiggle room. The contract still fits beautifully on a rebuilding team with lots of cap space/flexibility ready to pounce.

3 pages wasted talking about Pau Gasol is impressive. I'm going to spin the latest rumor with BKN looking to acquire Dwight Howard and needing a third team to facilitate a trade with the Lakers. The deal they pushed for was Lopez to MINN, Love to LALALALAL and Dwight to the Nets. Since Love is injured or injury prone the Lakers don't want him.

But why don't the Lakers want Brook Lopez? Why do the Nets need a third team in the first place?

Couldn't we accommodate the Nets and Lakers and take Lopez? Would we want to?

According to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer, Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan has instructed his front office to be aggressive at the trade deadline.

"We’re very active – our owner wants us to be active,’’ team president Bob Higgins told the Observer in regard to the Feb. 21 trade deadline.

Specifically, Bonnell wrote that trades "could range from pursuing a star player, to adding a complementary big man, to facilitating some deal between other teams to acquire a future draft pick."

The Bobs are desperate for a big man, so they may take aim at some potential targets who may well be available like DeMarcus Cousins, Al Jefferson or Andrea Bargnani. The trouble is they don't have much in the way of assets beyond what is sure to be another high draft pick in this year's draft. Perhaps that would be enough to pry Bargnani away from the Toronto Raptors.
