Wow....Kelly Dwyer...wow.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball- ... --nba.html

Let me highlight...

And the Indiana Pacers would average about 45 points per game and be spiraling toward the lottery if it weren’t for David West

Why not make it more obvious that this d-bag hasn't even watched one Pacers game all year, that entire article, not one mention of Paul George. With that and who he's picked to be on the AST, I'm sure this guy hardly watches and just goes by name recognition alone.

Not to discount West who's been awesome ever since he got here, but come on man.

well it was just a throw away line in an all star list and not really an analysis of our team. would I put West ahead of Paul? it really is a close question. Paul is the future and he's growing fast but he's right that West is the glue that holds our team together and the example that has made Paul blossom. I think the 3rd seed in the East deserves two members on the team but if we only get one I'd have no problem with it being DWest. the real problem with his piece is that it shows how likely we are to be shut out entirely. lets hope that's motivating. lets also hope that both have big games on national TV this afternoon as it is their final chance to showcase themselves to the voters.

I do agree DWest is the glue of our team, but if I had to choose one All-Star from our team this year it'd definitely be Paul George.

Still though, if he's going to make an article about AS game, at least have some knowledge about a team. Best defense in the league, 3rd in the conference and almost every other article on the subject is talking about Paul George not David West and this dude just totally ignores it.

I was not as in depth back then as I was now, but was our lack of media coverage this bad back in the JO days winning 60 games? Clearly we had to be one of if not the best team in the league back then, was the disrespect still this drastic? What about in Reggie's prime days?

yes, national coverage wasn't much then either although playoff series against the Knicks got coverage because it was the Knicks.

Kelly Dwyer watches every NBA basketball game. He has for years. He knows the Pacers pretty well.

Grantland's Zach Lowe - another guy who watches every NBA basketball game (and has for years) - agrees with Dwyer in choosing West over PG, though he actually chose West a member of his All Star team, whereas Kelly chose others over West, but acknowledges it's a toss-up.

These are both guys who not only are aware of what this Pacer team is, but also know how the Pacers and their players fit in the context of the NBA better than almost anyone who writes or follows the game. They know about Paul George, and they know what he's done over the last six weeks.

But they also know about Paul George, and how poorly he played in November, and generally, how big of a gap there is between his game at home, and his game on the road.

And they also know how far this team has come, and how crucial David West has been all season long.

The cases for West and George are both close, and they're both borderline. Both could make it, or neither could make it. Choosing one is not disrespectful to the other. Choosing neither is not disrespectful to the Pacers. There are a lot of good candidates in the East this year, and neither West nor PG have consistently separated themselves from the pack.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

I wouldn't have an issue with neither George or West making it, but it depends on who makes it in their place. Pierce may be the most deserving Celtic, but there should be no way they get 3 all stars. It's possible the Heat may not get 3 (every list I've seen does not have Bosh on it).

I expect 2 of Noah, Lopez, and Chandler to get in, but doubtful that all 3 would. As well as Brook's played, I don't know if he will get put in over the others, but he could. Deng seems like he will make it, but who knows. Holiday and Irving may make it, but only one of them. Boozer has a small chance, but I'd expect Deng and Noah to make it before he does.

Really there aren't that many deserving candidates in the East this year. Lowe's list of reserves has Holiday, Irving, Bosh, Noah, Chandler, Pierce, West, and Lopez (he took Garnett out, hence all 3 of the centers). That is really weak considering Holiday and Irving are on awful teams, Bosh has played poorly this year, and you have 3 full fledged centers (which is rare for an all star game).

Not only does he get paid, but he's also a Pacers fan. So i'm sure he watches Indiana more then the average person on league pass.

Paul George has officially been named a 2013 All-Star.

Return to Indiana Pacers
