Hornets to announce Pelicans tomorrow with the new logo

people make too big of a deal about the names.
when you think about it, it's the agressive/edgy names that end up sounding like bad arena football names after a few years.

the following names would all be made fun of if they had been launched today:
- lakers
- celtics
- maple leafs
- cubs
- packers

Pelicans is such a dope name, too. People aren't used to it, which is what makes it unique because once people do get used to it it'll stand out even more. Just like product and company names like "iPad", "Wii", "Yahoo!" etc. people criticized all of those names at first, but now they're household names.

Exactly.

I always said that if the Lakers were an expansion team that was brand new, people would be saying, "wtf lakers??? So their team is full of people who like going to lakes? Wtf so ghey. Whats their logo going to be? a lake? a fisherman looking for salmon in a lake? And what's up with those colors! Purple and yellow?! This ain't the WNBA!".

I'm surprised you left out Orlando Magic. People would be screaming "WNBA" at the mere notion of it.

Correct. Also: Angels, Red Sox, Yankees, Sixers, Patriots, Red Wings, Oilers

Consequently, Bobcats season ticket holders and Charlotteans are being polled tomorrow about a name change. Its a no brainer, considering Charlotte Hornets merchandise outsells Charlotte Bobcats merchandise by a large margin. It will be interesting to see if we keep the Hornets colors or not and if we update the logo.

I've gotten used to it already and I like it. If they can't have "Jazz" then "Pelicans" is better than "Hornets"

Team names don't have to be intimidating. People keep thinking that team names have to be intimidating. I don't get it.

Red Sox - omg socks are gonna kill me.
Lakers - omg a fisherman who enjoys lake activities is gonna kill me.
Heat - omg I'm finna get sunburnt
Spurs - omg that cowboy finna kill me with that shiny thing on his boot.

People first complained about the OKC Thunder name and their logo then eventually it made sense. Now once again everyone complaining about NO name but eventually it will kick in and become unnoticeable. My point is "STOPPPPP COMPLAININGGGGGGGGGGG"

i cant believe they actually went through with the pelican name change, that better be one badass logo, maybe have a baby's foot sticking out of its bill
