Expecting lots of Evans in this game to check ZBo a la last year's playoffs.

Watch for Tony Wroten. He's got everything but a shot. Very talented kid, IMO, that could disrupt the passing lanes if the Nets aren't careful.

I'm not sure what to think of this game at the moment. Hopefully, I have a better feel for a victory closer to tip off. PJ did some things last night that had me scratching my head.

This game is a tough call.

Randolph can really have his way with our interior. But if we keep playing the way we have been, we should come out on top.

We really need to keep them off the offensive glass, and we need to take care of the ball. In general, they miss a lot of shots, so if we avoid giving them a ton of extra possessions, we should be ok.

Randolph: 52.4% TS
Gay: 47.9% TS
Gasol: 55.4% TS
Conley: 53.3% TS
Allen: 47.2% TS

Outside of Gasol, none of their starting 5 is all that efficient, and Gasol isn't really a volume scorer, or a guy that can create his own shot, he's more of an opportunistic scorer. And 55% TS isn't super efficient either. The Grizzlies kill teams by generating extra possessions with offensive rebounding (#1 in the league in ORB%) and forcing TOVs (#2 in the league in opponent TOV%).

Big game here... on the road vs a playoff team.

Wallace vs Gay & Lopez vs Gasol are the key matchups...

I hope Mirza and Brooks have a shot....

The good thing is that Deron won't be guarded by Tony Allen, because I don't think they can afford to have Conley guard JJ or Wallace. Gay probably sticks with one of them, and Allen the other. Which means Deron should post up Conley every chance he gets.

This is one of those times where Lopez shouldn't be a featured player in the post on offense, because the Grizzlies are elite in terms of their interior defense. I'd keep the ball in Deron's and JJ's hands and let them create, and use Lopez as a finisher.

Instead they should put Lopez in the post all dust quarter to try to get gasol in foul trouble to limit him. That would be smarter. Then they would have to switch Randolph onto him and he can get him into foul trouble also

I think it's way more likely that Gasol and Randolph completely limit him than Lopez puts them in foul trouble. Lopez really isn't a guy that tends to draw a lot of fouls, especially against good defenders that the refs will be lenient with.

If he's put in spots where all he has to do is finish, then I think he puts them in foul trouble more, they'll have to try and contest.

Gasol is pretty mobile and one of the best defensive players in the league, he's one of the only guys aside from Duncan and Dwight that has a legitimate argument of having a better year then Brook at the 5.

Both Tyshawn Taylor and Tornike Shengelia have D-League assignment.

Your thoughts on Noah vs Lopez? I'd probably take Noah over Lopez too.

My top centers this year:

1. Duncan
2. Dwight
3. Gasol
4. Noah
5. Lopez

im no brook fanboy as many can attest, but i dont think there's an argument for players like noah, hibbert, and chandler over him this season. they dont even touch him. and it always seems predicated on some really silly, reductive ****, like "lopez is the better scorer, but *insert name* is the better rebounder and defender," completely ignoring degrees of difference and the basic reality that the end game of basketball is to score points while preventing the other team from doing so. you look at a guy like noah, whose giving you 11.4 PPG PER36 min on .514TS% vs brook's 22.8 PPG PER36 min on .562TS%, the difference in the other aspects of their game's would have to so insanely, absurdly great to make up that kind of difference. the best centers in the league this season are dwight, brook, and duncan. all the other guys are battling it out for 4th.

We are going to get are arses handed to us this game... and it might not be a bad thing. the last 3 games we won despite a horrible, embarassing effort on the court. i dont see that effort changing tommorow. i think they beat us as bad as the spurs did, and hopefully its a wakeup call.

I just don't see an argument for Noah over Lopez. He's the better defender, but he isn't Hakeem Olajuwan. He routinely gets manhandled by opposing Centers. He's slightly better on the boards... but that 1.2% isn't all that big. He's averaging 4 assists per game but is also turning the ball more than most PG's. Lopez is superior in every aspect on the offensive end of the court that it outweighs Noah's impact on the other end, just like Deepblueday stated.

I disagree. They aren't nearly as good offensively. They're a grind it out type of team, a style of play that suits us well. We tend to struggle against the fast break, quick, super athletic teams... The Grizzlies are everything but.

I agree.

Noah is better at his role than Lopez is at his, but Noah's role does not impact a game as much as Lopez.
