Jets Considering Trading Revis
http://football.realgm.com/src_wiretap_ ... _of_revis/
The reasons why they want to deal him are the same reasons why I don't think they'll get fair value for a guy of his talent. Not too many teams are going to want to give up big value (in either players or picks) for a corner coming off a torn ACL looking for $15+ million a year.
But who would be interested? Titans, Bucs, Dolphins (although I don't think the Jets would trade him in-division) all jump to mind to me.

Why in the world would you trade your best player and your coach's favourite? Unless they know something that we don't about his recovery from ACL.

Re: Jets Considering Trading Revis
Two schools of thought here:
1. Everyone knows Rex is a lame duck and taking Revis away hurts the team enough so that 2013 will be a big failure and the new regime can fire Rex without taking flak.
2. They are acknowledging they are not a competitive team right now and they want to get back as much as they can for Revis. They don't want to risk him walking away and getting nothing.
I have no problem with them seeing what the market is for Revis. Makes sense to explore the option. They didn't say "we're trading him", just that they'll consider it.

It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

"Shutdown" CBs really aren't that valuable in today's NFL. It's all about being able to rush the passer, if you can't do that then it doesn't matter who you got in coverage they're gonna get beat.
Not shocked they would try to trade him. He's coming off an ACL, and the Jets need to rebuild. I doubt they get much for him though, considering his injury history and he's gonna want another big contract.

Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

Re: Jets Considering Trading Revis
If the Jets really want to rebuild. Fire Rex Ryan and he crew. Try out that third option QB they have, and start trading for picks.
As for Revis, I say put him out there and see what pops. Keep in mind whoever trades for Revis better keep in mind, his now injured prone history.

Re: Jets Considering Trading Revis
he's the best the league has to offer in terms of cornerbacks, teams will undoubtedly sign up to take him off the jets hands injury history or not. but i agree they should do a little house keeping of the staff first.
they're not trading him because he torn an acl. they're trading him because they believe they've already lost him to free agency, and they're also $35 million over the cap.

In general I agree but this is Darrelle Revis we are talking about here. He does not get beat as proven over the last years when the Jets had no pass rush. Just look at what he did against the best receivers in the game for half a decade now. No other CB is even close to Darrelle Revis, he is an all time HOF talent entering his prime.
Exploring the trade is fine considering the Jets financial troubles and lack of overall talent. But in the end, they have to be blown away with an offer in order to trade him.
Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies...

Re: Jets Considering Trading Revis
I'd be surprised if the Niners made a deal for Revis, since we're going to have trouble enough as it is just keeping our current squad together, let alone adding a $15M/yr guy like Revis on top of that.
Although, the current Niners D plus Revis would be unstoppable...its fun to imagine.

The Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks are teams that are believed to be highly interested in acquiring Darrelle Revis via trade.
The New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills are also interested, but the Jets are not expected to trade Revis within their division.
The Packers have been constantly mentioned as an interested party in Revis across all sources.

they're just doing their due diligence. i'm sure they'll be a bunch of teams that realistically don't have a shot at him but you enter discussions anyway because players like revis rarely ever end up on the trade block.
that said it wouldn't be fair if they got him, so i'm hoping you're right.

I really think it'd be a mistake to trade him. He's the one player you can build the team around.

It's a smart move for a franchise to do. Aside from alienating your current starting corners (who should understand the business side of things already), you're not really losing anything by asking.

Looks like the following teams are interested:
Packers
Broncos
49ers
Seahawks
------------
Patriots
Bills
I don't think the Jets would trade Revis within the division however.

Re: Jets Considering Trading Revis
Niners already have a dominant defense. If they can manage to bring everyone back AND add Revis, I can't imagine them losing too many games next season.

Re: Jets Considering Trading Revis
Niners dont need him. Don't get me wrong, Revis is one of the best if not the best corner in the league but he isn't worth the money on a team that already has a good defense and solid db play. It wasn't so long ago that they handed down the richest contract to a guy named Nate Clements, doubt they make the same mistake twice.

Re: Jets Considering Trading Revis
However, if the 49ers lose this next game . . . its not exact science, but lets take for example if the 9ers lose, the ODDS ARE that they will lose it on the backs of the defensive backfield.
check that, young QB #1 reason. DBs #2.

Re: Jets Considering Trading Revis
I mean obviously the Niners could use Revis, but Brown and Culliver are both good young corners. Rogers has definitely lost a step though.

Re: Jets Considering Trading Revis
In fairness, we don't know what Revis will financially demand next season since he is coming off of an ACL injury.
