i hope the rockets make the right decision and let him play in D league for the rest of his contract and go into obscurity... the way this kid treated the organization was beyond out of line... and it's not like he doens't have lawyers and health professionals around him... interesting to see how all of a sudden he's willing to play ball once he realized he needs the money....

Will he be paid his NBA contract or the standard D-League salary?

Unless the addendum to his contract states otherwise, he'll be paid on the rookie scale.

Yes, the way Royce approached the whole situation was out of line, but the Rockets absolutely made the right decision to have him stay in the league. Now it's all up to Royce to do the right things. I'm glad both sides are getting close to a mutual agreement, and hopefully Royce will carry out his responsibilities.

Hopefully, both sides have learned their lessons as well.

HoopsH also spoke with Daryl Morey, the Rockets general manager. He declined to make any on-the-record statements, but he seems to have a pretty reasonable view on White's potential future. Morey also mentioned that the true risk of selecting White was not as severe as many people think, since only about 20 percent of players drafted 16th overall end up having major NBA careers anyway

NBA contract. He is on the Rockets official 15-man roster, and sent to D-League as an NBA assignee. He would only be paid D-League salary if he were waived from the NBA, then signed to the D-League, which is what happened to Scott Machado.

If you look at a D League roster's, it'll show (NBA) next to a player's name if they are an NBA assignee. Machado's name doesn't have the (NBA) next to it now. But DMo, TJones, and Royce would.

He tells fans who "live" by their team they're mentally ill. :D

I don't know if I'm mentally ill, but considering how much heartache the Rockets have caused me over the years I guess that I'm clearly a masochist.

I didn't find a Grantland article about fans who live by their team, but this article was very eyebrow-raising. Royce sounds very intelligent... yet completely insane at the same time.

Ok, I take it back. Language barrier.

I mean, if you tweet at me five times in seven minutes because I'm not playing for a team you have no real connection to? That is not good. That suggests mental illness. And even if you say, 'But I love this team to death,' it means you've put too much investment into entertainment. It's probably not good for you."

I probably took it out of concept of this article (madbucky posted right link). Sorry. Anyway- interesting reading. I don't mean on the court but Royce could really change a lot of about NBA, players, health protocols and etc.
Btw I really want some journalist to make interview with him about Karl Marx and his opinion. :D

Chuck Klosterman summed up just about everyone's issues with Royce White in one sentence:

"There are times when White seems like a brilliant ninth-grader who just wrote a research paper on mental illness and can't stop talking about it."

I don't even like Klosterman's writing most of the time but that was very good. I can't say I liked the B.S. report that followed the article latter as Simmons seemed to have made up his mind about Royce already and it's hard to fake objectivity.

So now let's just get down to reality royce. you are out of shape... haven't played competitive ball in quite some time now... and your jumper is as broke as it has ever been.

One more year of **** ball in the D-League and your ass will be in some rat hole country that dont speaky the english and could give a crap about your mental problems. Here is 12k a month.... produce or take a hike. Can't wait for those tweets...
