Okay I haven't seen the scrum yet, but read Ariel's twitter. I don't want to misquote, but to paraphrase, he said that Dana was saying that they almost had Brock/Fedor at Cowboy Stadium signed, then Fedor's dad died and Fedor stepped away, and soon after Brock stepped away and the whole thing disintegrated.
Wow!

Man...That would have been huge.
It would have been the biggest fight of all time (to date). With the, at the time, best fighter in the world, vs the biggest draw in company history.
What a let down.

Along the same theme, UFC's heading to Russia this year, more details coming. They also have plans to hit up the rest of the BRIC(S) that they haven't yet.

Fedor is the king of almost. He was supposed to fight Brock, until he found out Brock was not 185 pounds or an 8 foot tall Japanese freak show and then he magically did not want to fight anymore.

I'm confused. Were Big Nog, Mark Coleman, Kevin Radleman, Cro Cop, Tim Sylvia, Andrei Arlovski, Werdum, and Bigfoot 185 pounders or 8 feet tall Japanese freak shows?
Yeah, Fedor fought some cans. But he was a natural LHW who fought at HW and competed against the best in every organization he was in. No one gives Machida grief for fighting BJ Penn, Anderson Silva grief for fighting James Irving, Forrest Griffin, and Stephan Bonnar, Randy Couture grief for fighting James Tony, or any of the other PRIDE fighters grief for fighting some unranked opponents.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
I think ripping on some of Fedor's fights at the end of his career is legit. That said, to imply he is a coward takes it too far imo.
"Not 185 pounds" is too misleading. Hendo isn't 185 pounds. Bones is bigger than Fedor. Nobody was calling him a coward when that fight was scheduled. Hell, Chael is going up in weight just like Hendo was, guess Bones is fighting middleweights again. Not to mention Vitor! Man, Bones needs to pick on someone his own size.

Just read that Randy has signed a multi year deal with viacom to appear on bellator stuff, including their reality show.

Haha, first comment in this link:

Crazy, crazy stuff, but it's a brilliant move by Bellator/Viacom. Randy's the right guy... he's synonymous with BOTH UFC and MMA, so he will confuse some casual UFC fans who may not know about Bellator when they're flipping through channels, plus it's an instant jolt of credibility. Good for them.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
Dana said this weekend that he literally never even thinks about bellator.
I'm not sure the impact this move will have for them, but I can promise you that he's thinking about them today.

Dana's a lying poohead, this goes against a basic fundamental rule of being an industry leader. I guarantee they have hours-long meetings on a weekly basis about crushing Bellator.
Like right now, Dana's in some PI's office trying to get dirt on Bjorn and Randy.

I heard Bjorn is a serious dude.
As in, he has some pull in the fight game.
Maybe someone knows more than I?
Didn't he work a lot with De La Hoya?

I'll just say, in my opinion, it seems to take a certain type of dude to be a promoter.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
Dana talks out of both sides of his mouth. He says he doesn't care about Bellator, has never seen one of their fights, and has never said a bad word about them in some interviews. Then in others he says Bellator are pulling dirty scumbag moves, nobody should sign with Bellator, and Ben Askren is the most boring guy in the sport.
The reality is he's very interested in Bellator, and preventing their prominence, more so than any other promotion since Pride.

The "I don't think about Bellator" and "I don't even watch the fights" stuff is so incredulous, you really don't need to say anything else.
