The 8th Seed

Post#1 » by RipCity32 » Sun Jan 27, 2013 6:55 pm

Well the Celtics are free-falling currently. Losing 6 in a row, and now the news on Twitter is that Rondo might have a torn ACL. With that being said, that 8th seed is going to be up for grabs. And it could be a 3 team race imo with Boston, Philly, and us.

Right now we are 4 games back. Do you think we should go all-out and make a complete run for the playoffs? I think it is certainly in our sights now, and making like one trade for a perimeter scorer will easily put us in there. And if that is the case what are the chances Dumars does something like that (I say 0%).

Yep, with Rondo out for the season, I see the Celtics blowing it up completely. Still think we can pass up the 76ers. Bynum hasn't played in a while and he's known to have conditioning issues.

our draft pick is only protected if we can not make the playoffs.

do we really need a first round swept?

Do we really need the 10th pick in a bad draft?

As well as injury issues - the fact that he is coming back from the injury doesn`t mean that he won`t get another one ;-)

I really believe that we will earn this 8th place. I miss playoffs - even if we probably end in the first round.

Yes if we can get the 8th seed, we should go balls to the walls to get it. Going from the lottery to the playoffs would be HUGE for the maturation of players like Drummond and Brandon Knight. Let them get a taste of playoff basketball... then follow it up by making Drummond a 30+ min a game starter next season. He's a beast.

Teams almost NEVER go from lottery suckage to contenders. There's a progression, a maturation process, the players have to grow together. They need to be thrown into the fire.

We've had 3 straight years of really good lottery picks: Monroe, Knight, Drummond. We're actually very lucky. Let's not get greedy - times to correctly utilize what we have.

yeah the Pistons definitely have 8 waiting for the taking now.

I'd rather have the draft pick, but if you're going to get in the playoffs you might as well try to win.

They HAVE to make a trade to be able to compete with Miami.
Kyle Lowry is available, so they say.

Do whatever you can to get Kyle Lowry.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

I think we have a shot at the 8th spot but it will be really tough. I think one of the most important things about making the playoffs is that it may help us lure in free agents who see us as an up and coming team.

I think it's a good possibility we make the 8th seed...We need to make a trade though, I like the idea of Lowry coming over to mentor Knight...

I think Toronto will be in the thick of the 8th seed hunt. But I think Boston goes into tank mode now, because they have nothing to offer trade wise to replace Rondo for the season+.

Detroit, Raps and Philly battle it out for the 8th seed. If we can trade some of our expirings for a shooting guard upgrade on a longer deal I'd be willing to make that move now.
Weaver = Hinkie
VW to Portland

Exactly. And then we'd still owe the pick next year or the year beyond.

I'd rather make the playoffs, take that next step from lotto team back to playoff team, get the young guys playoff exp, and complete the CHA deal. Then we will have our pick available to use in trades again. We don't need more rookies, we need to add vets around our young guys.

We are 1 PG away from the playoffs, Joe cannot sit on his hands again. If Joe doesn't make a push for the playoffs I don't know what to say about him anymore.

We need a starting SG by trade, and need to start Drummond.

Despite their win against Miami today, I don't see the celtics making the playoffs, especially with Rondo out for the season. I also think the Hawks will drop. They've been losing a lot lately and now Lou Williams is out for the season.

The pistons need to make a run at the playoffs

Get Lowry in here and the Pistons not only make the playoffs, but could knockoff the Knicks or Heat in the first round.

What does Toronto need? Would they trade Lowry to the Pistons? It would seem to me a team like that would want Stuckey & a draft pick but I don't think pistons can even offer one.
Would they take Stuckey & expiring contract?

marcus thornton and marshon brooks have fallen out of the rotation for their teams. it would be easy to get them but of course joe wont do **** and give stuckey his 50th extension instead.
