Re: Rondo
Sorry. I don't want to add Rondo unless they'd want a deal that involved Knight or Monroe and smaller pieces. I wouldn't deal Drummond. Maybe Monroe and pieces for Sullinger and Rondo. Not sure but i'm not paying what the team would ask for in a deal for Rondo. I personally feel the Celtics will look to deal Pierce because I don't they make a deal. I think Calderon would be a fit for them (Celtics) now but don't have the assets to get it done.

Re: Rondo
Wow, major bummer for Rondo and the Celts.
For what it's worth pre-injury I would have given up Monroe, Stuckey & Knight for Rondo & ... something. I know he can't shoot, but to be set defensively at the 1 & 5 spots with guys who can get out and run and a real playmaker in Rondo? Heck yeah. But we definitely need shooters at the 2 & 4. With the cap space we'd have and another pick to go along with whatever other player/pieces come back from Boston I'd be pretty happy.

I agree that I'd be ok trading Monroe but not sure what'd want. Monroe clear can't play PF. Drummond should be on the floor. I know Monroe can score but he can't defend. This team will only win with Drummond as the the starting C.

Re: Rondo
If it looks like Rondo could come back to full strength next year, would do it in a heartbeat. With Rondo and Drummond, you'd have two guys who are impact players when they aren't shooting. That makes Detroit so much more attractive to free agents. It makes everyone else on the roster better on both ends. Guys like Drummond and Rondo are unique. I wouldn't go as far as to say Knight, Monroe, and Stuckey altogether are a dime a dozen...but you can get those caliber of players later in free agency or trades.
I go with the tried and true proven formula. In NBA trades, the team who gets the biggest impact player wins. Doesn't matter if it's 3 for 1...unless one of Detroits 3 ends up eventually be the best player in the trade...and I can't see that.

Re: Rondo
Rondo has unbelievable talent, talent to be one of the best pg in history, the fact that he hasn't developed a consistent jump shot after all this time should say something though. Defensively he's also a liability. i'd rather let knight develop/mold into the pg we need than trade away more assets for another borderline allstar

Re: Rondo
Rondo can't shoot.
BUT
He can dictate the flow of the game.
He can play lockdown defense on 1s, 2s, and some 3s in the league.
He is one of the best rebounding pgs in the league.
He is a triple double machine.
He can get to any place he wants to on the court.
He is smart enough to manipulate the situation when the defense sags off of him and gives him the open J.
He has taken over and dominated playoff games.
STILL
I'm not on board with giving up on Knight for Rondo.
CASE IN POINT
Rondo struggled in college when he was supposed to be the best pg in college ball.
Rondo struggled in his first couple of seasons in Boston.
Rondo benefitted greatly playing with the Big 3.
Rondo worked hard to get a great feel for the game, now he's one of the best.
Rondo's development gives me hope that Knight will also develop given time and opportunity.

Re: Rondo
Knight will never be the defender or be able to run the offense like Rondo. In time, Knight's shooting ability could make up some of the difference, but that's only assuming Rondo never learns to shoot. Jason Kidd was famous for not having a jump shot, now he's enjoyed an extended career in part due to his shooting ability.
I just think Drummond-Rondo-2013 draft pick is more attractive to a FA than Drummond-Monroe-Knight-draft pick.
I'd do Monroe, Bynum, Daye for Rondo now....

Re: Rondo
Rondo's shooting stats this season are pretty good. Obviously no one has seen the data
As someone who has him in Fantasy leagues I know his shooting has improved this season, especially beyond 15 feet. His 3 point shot isn't there yet but if I didn't know better I'd assume people are thinking of the Rondo from 2009

We shouldnt be in the business of asserting what a player will NEVER do. Knight's defense is already superb, who knows how else he'll develop.

Actually his stats are worse the more minutes he plays.

I think the big thing for the Pistons would be that the Pistons would need a three point shooter if Rondo was acquired.

Re: Rondo
I'm not prepared to say a player cannot improve or evolve his game. Rondo improved, but Brandon Knight cannot? Why is that?
He'll never be the distributer or the defender that Rondo is? Why is that? Was Rondo always capable of what he's been doing over the past 3 seasons? Did he show this level of ability in college? And even if he didn't (but he did not) that's totally irrelevent. Rondo has been lauded for his work ethic. Check work ethic BK7 has that. Rondo has been lauded for his athleticism. Check athleticism BK7 has that. Rondo has been credited for his intelligence. BK7 has that and the drive to learn and grow.
He needs time. I can't say the book has been written on the kid. I get the impression that our rush to judgment is based on what we experienced with Stuckey, but I think that's apples and oranges. They are two totally different case studies.
Stuck has the swag and the attitude to think he's on the level of Westbrook, Rondo, and Rose. He just doesn't have the resume. BK7 has less of the attitude and more of the quiet drive. Embrace the process.
