Re: Royal Rumble
We all saw this coming, but Punk got screwed. He deserved better.
I honestly think that Punk was never scripted to have the belt this long, and that Cenas injury forced the Ryback push and then this crap.
I have no doubt that Rock was coming back all along, but to gift him the belt like that sucks. Cena will win the belt back, and then carry it for the RAW world tour, probably turning heel after that. No way he turns heel before WM or the World Tour in July.

Shield has already attacked Cena multiple times.
Cena is NEVER turning heel.
He's too much of a babyface and with his make-a-wish foundation, the WWE wouldnt dare risk merchandise sales because he has a tremendous amount of fans in the younger audience who buys all his crap.

Hmm, I would agree, but this is the same company that had Daniel Bryan lose the same title in under a minute.
As for the rest of you, I've given up on a Cena heel turn.

Cena will never turn heel.
At least not until there's a face big enough to take his place as the posterboy of the company. And right now that doesn't look like it's in the forseeable future.

I don't know about never cause never say never in wrestling.
I don't think Cena is going to turn heel this year but I think he will in the future, it is going to be matter of time.

Re: Royal Rumble
Cena/Rock and HHH/Brock are two rematches that I have no interest in seeing at WM, and what's worse, we already know how they'll end.
Punk/Taker could be good, but again, we already know the finish.
Hopefully the WHC match will be good, because Mania is shaping up to be pretty dull. I'm praying for Ziggler vs. Bryan.

Was anyone else hoping Lita would go back to her roots and be part of The Godfather's Ho Train again?

I don't think two hos constitutes a train. That was more like a Ho Trolley.

Amen, sir. He should've brought out that one chick Cena shook hands with after the Rumble. Perhaps the company thought two hos was pushing the boundaries for WWE PG.

Even the hoes were PG man. Dressing like respectable ladies. What happened to the off-duty strippers they used to use in the attitude era? SMH

Re: Royal Rumble
My guess for the WM Card:
Cena/Rock
Punk/Taker Arrogance vs Record
Del Rio (/w Ricardo) vs Ziggler (/w Big E + AJ) for WHC
Team Hell No vs Rhode Scholars Tag Team Championship
The Shield vs Orton/Sheamus/Miz
Cesaro vs Jericho US Championship
Barrett vs Ryback Intercontinental Championship
Some Diva's match that nobody cares about.

Re: Royal Rumble
Good Rumble spoiled by predictable uncreative booking...
If its Cena vs. The Rock again at WM I probably won't order the PPV...
What the hell happened to Benjamin and Carlito? The Wrestling Observer or whoever broke
that got swerved hard. Good to see Jericho and the Godfather back though.

Re: Royal Rumble
the results were expected, but they were fine. Its the way they had to go- I get it.
The endings though were crap. Rock and Ryback you know who was going to win since Ryback cant put on a decent match at this point of his career. And the pu**y throw over the rope. As much as a would of hated the inevitable ending, it really should of been Dolph and Cena as the last two. And a good spot to end it.
And then the main event. First the Shield comes, but we cant see them. And then Punk doesnt go a gts but just pins him. And then the People's Elbow of the restart- not even a Rock Bottom. He loses a 400 plus day reign to an elbow drop. Just terrible. Most assumed Rock would win, but that ending was garbage.
As for my least favorite thing though, how the hell did Sheamus stay in on that off the turnbuckle dropkick by Jericho. Cmon man!

Re: Royal Rumble
Horrible night for the WWE. Every match predictable and now a boring Rock/Cena feud that no one wants will go for months.
Punk is the guy making the WWE watchable right now. If he loses mic and face time to a back burnered storyline, the product will certainly suffer.
My guess for WM:
Rock vs. Cena (title)
Punk vs. Taker
Ziggler vs. Orton (title...Dolph will cash in MITB before WM)
Sheamus vs. Ryback
Team Hell No vs. Miz and Flair (title)
Cesaro vs. Jericho (title)
Barrett vs. Big Show (title)
Diva Title Match

Re: Royal Rumble
There are things to complain about tonight's show. The idea of putting the belt on a part-time guy even if he is essentially a full-timer between now and Mania is somewhat questionable. Although even then, the amount of publicity the WWE is going to get by a legitimate A-list movie star going on Leno, Kimmel, etc. with the WWE title cancels that out. I'd also add, I think they had essentially gotten everything they were going to get out of Punk's title run. A big deal has been made out of where he was ranked in terms of length, I believe he was 6th, but it was virtually impossible for him to move up that list because the next guy on there was Pedro Morales' run of 1027 days. Punk was not going to hold the title another 600 days. I do think the two very legitimate complaints were that Punk should've been booked stronger in the go-home sequence of the match. And I agree completely with that. The other is that while Rock winning the title was okay, he shouldn't have been the guy to end Punk's long run. This was an opportunity to make a guy and perhaps Ryback should've beaten him a couple months ago and then subsequently dropped the title back to Punk because ending Punk's long title reign was an opportunity to make a guy and those don't come around every day.
One complaint I don't buy is that Punk somehow got shafted or he got a raw deal or anything like that. The last PPV of 2009 a shade over 3 years ago, CM Punk was in the dark match of the PPV against R-Truth. If you would've told us Punk fans that in three years Punk will hold the title all of 2012, have the longest title run in almost 30 years and his 2013 PPV schedule will start off with 2 matches against The Rock and a WM match against Taker. I don't think anyone would've complained.

Re: Royal Rumble
damn that was horrible. the Macho Man elbow looks more devastating than "the most electrifying move in sports entertainment a decade back".
so, Punk will whine on RAW, will probably get a rematch and lose, go after Vince for re-starting the match, lead The Shield into an anti-company stable who brought injustice to the former champ, storyline goes on for weeks, feud with McMahon's team, then Punk, Ambrose, Rollins, and Reigns breaks up and do singles.
that is just so sad I'm glad I'm not part of the creative team.

oh no doubt Rock being champ gives WWE all the needed publicity to whatever they plan to do. stale thing about this one is we can expect Cena to win the title from Rock. I mean who else really? The Rock is a mega star. no one's taking that belt away from him except established vets like HHH, Y2J, Taker, Brock but problem with this is the follow up. what happens when he loses the title? he's not working full time. a midcarder or a rising star would be the next option like Ziggler or Ryback but damn winning the title from The Rock will elevate their careers sky high and it doesn't make sense unless they're built up interestingly.
so yeah the inevitable Rock-Cena II makes the most sense since this sets up some sort of passing of the torch from the Attitude Era to wherever Era they are now.

Like I said, I think Punk should've dropped the title a couple months ago to Ryback and then regained it shortly thereafter. Because while Ryback's first title run wouldn't have been memorable him ending Punk's title reign would have been. But for whatever reason for the past couple years WWE doesn't seem interested in using guys like Rock and Brock and Taker or Punk's title run to elevate younger guys. They'd rather put them in matches with other legends or established guys. And that mentality was used tonight and it'll be used at WM when Cena, in all likelihood, beats Rock for the title. Would I rather see Rock vs Bryan or Ziggler instead of Cena part deux, absolutely. And I would've rather seen Brock against Sheamus or Orton at Summerslam instead of HHH.

that sort or mentality is BS imo. so don't bring them back if they're scared to make those legends look weak by putting over younger and promising up and comers. they did it with Y2J and Ziggler though.
this generation of superstars aren't living in the past so they deserve to be utilized properly and differently, instead of giving wrestling fans a minute of nostalgia and months of bad product and hindering the development of those other capable guys. unless that happens we should be expecting a lot more Cena this decade.
