Josh Smith believes he deserves a maximum-level extension.

“I feel like I’m a max player,” Smith said. “I feel I bring a lot to the table. I have a lot of versatility. For what I do and what I give this ball club, I feel like I’m worth it.”

The Hawks will be able to offer Smith a five-year deal worth about $94 million.

Hell no! This is a god awful contract and some idiot will give it him. I just hope the Rockets stay the hell away.

Smith again: “There shouldn’t be any hesitation. I’m Josh Smith, I’m not anybody else. I ‘m not Michael Jordan, I’m not LeBron James, I’m not Brook Lopez. I’m Josh Smith. You can’t look at what might’ve happened with another person. Let’s say Joe. You can’t say, ‘I’m skeptical of giving another person that’ because of whatever they feel like happened."

 reason why I would not give him a max. I hope this ends anybody bringing up Josh Smith to Houston talks.

I was coming here just to say this when I saw it on the wiretap. Giving Josh Smith a max deal is silly. Putting Josh Smith on this roster on a max contract is insane.

Ilyasova was a beast last season - real good rebounder that was lights out from three. He struggled to start this year, but seems like he's lately found his groove back (still over 40% from distance, and 14/8 on 48/48/80 in January). Our ideal or "perfect" PF would be able to do these things + play defense, but then we're talking an all-star caliber player...so for someone realistic, I think Ilyasova could be an improvement to our team.

And I agree with the max being too much for Smoove. He's quite good defensively, and underrated as a passer, but his offensive IQ is awful...and that results in mind boggling poor efficiency. He's the sort that takes what the defensive gives him, and they'll want him to take the outside shot - and he has no problem doing that; in fact it seems he prefers that..which is sad because he has a decent post game. I think one could make an argument that's been a negative on the offensive end this season.

I think I said some time ago that Ilyasova would be a great acquisition. Fingers crossed.

My undying fandom until such a point as he seems to have become counterproductive to the advancement of the team, at which point it will become dying fandom.

Also I have a half-eaten bag of Frito-Lay's and a couple high scoring power forwards.

Ok, I don't actually HAVE the power forwards, in any sort of accepted english meanings of the words, but if you get us Ilyasova, I'll be sure to get you something REALLY nice, somehow.

^^lol i'm sure the bag of Frito-Lay's will suffice

I visited the Bucks board the other day and this is what they came up with...

Ilyasova/Drew Gooden/Marquis Daniels

for

Defino/Aldrich/Patterson/(one of White/Jones/Motie)

Guy did make a good point about Supernova's inconsistency, i don't know much about him but I don't like the thought of taking Gooden for a crazy volatile player.

Hell no! Drew Gooden is the devil!

I like Ilyasova, but really, he's just a guy. Don't like the fact (well, suspicion/rumor) that he lied about his age, either. Only women lie about their age. I don't want no women on this team. We already got Patterson.

I don't mind taking a volatile player, as ALL players are volatile, just to different degrees.
Taking gooden, on the other hand...
He's a 7m liability this year, and the next 2 years after this one. He'd be an expiring after next year, but those don't seem to be getting as much talk regarding value under the new CBA. Whether they are or not, I don't know. He's not playing at all this year.
I'd want some serious draft picks and a guarantee of his retirement or waiver or something.

On the other hand, he's got to be at least as good as Patterson.

Keep Daniels.

I'm sure there are trades that make better sense for both teams, but I'm not able to look them up.
Any ideas from anyone else?

Let's sign Dwight!!!

lmao google showed me this Arsen Ilyasov...

Thats pretty funny so its possible he is 3 years older? 28... well that's not bad, should be best years of his career, just gotta make sure we trade him in 5 years time for max return.

No do not think we need a Granger. Have bigger problems at the PG and PF and still need some bench depth

I'm sure Indy will want to keep Granger, there weakness is scoring.

Do you guys think we are "shopping" Patterson/Morris like Toronto shopped Calderon/Davis to raise their value?
