RAPS: Rudy + Moore
MEM: Afflalo + Davis
ORL: Calderon + Ross

I'd do that.

And the Magic break the NBA futility record for being the softest and worst defensive team in the history of the NBA. Actually, that team right there could break the record for least amount of wins in a season also.

I would still do it though just to get out of Afflalo's contract and obtain Calderons expiring. As for Ross, he has potential.

I would LOVE for this to happen.

It makes sense for every team as well.

Raps need a "star"
Memphis needs a replacement for Gay but cheaper
Orlando needs real depth at PG, a SQ of the future, and the expiring in Calderon.

Wonder if JJ would sweeten the deal, or if Afflalo is more valuable. JJ is probably going to leave this summer, so we need to consider that.

If you don't remember how Grant Hill's injury had severe repercussions on a rebuilding Magic team, you need to study up.

exactly.... i can see the fear of injury and not returning to form, but he doesn't have much left on his contract anyways if that happened.

He's under contract through 2015. That's paying him for this year and two more seasons if he can't return to form. And it slices right into the 2014 free agent market that many here seem to think needs to be a target.

It's not like there are particularly attractive free agent targets in 2014 IMHO, but an injured Rondo would hold us back cap-wise for quite a while.
And this isn't like trading for Gay. Rondo is the better player AND rondo is out for the rest of the year, increasing our draft position (worked well for spurs). I doubt boston would even think about it though.

It worked well for the Spurs because they had a clear cut consensus number one pick waiting for them in Tim Duncan. There is no such player in this year's draft. Oh, and Rondo is good, but he's not David Robinson good.
Also, rondo is a unique player that relies more on length and craftiness than quickness which will allow him to play at a high level for longer.

Unless his knee is shot, in which case he may not even be Jameer Nelson, except with better vision. If he can't run, vision won't help much. Why are people so quick to dismiss the injury aspect of this one?

I think Henny is hesitant in taking huge risks on injured players. Reports are that he passed on Bynum Bc of his injury record. Perry Jones is another player that comes mind but Im speculating with him. As I type this I just realized that he did get Harrington over here... so who knows

Yeah he left us in the past which is where we should leave him.

This trade is actually very interesting and realistic. Toronto gets their star wing. Memphis gets a good starter in Afflalo and a first big off the bench in BBD while clearing cap space. Orlando gets a good PG on an expiring contract and IMO one of the most underrated guys out of this draft in Ross that fills a future positional need. I know there are a lot of Lamb fans on here but I think Ross is better. Very athletic and strong + he can play defense and he is a good shooter.

I think it would be wise for the Magic to turn around and ship Calderon elsewhere in that scenario though. Good older pg looking to get paid, no thanks. Ship Calderon out to Boston whom ships Lee + picks (maybe another player also?) to Sactown while the Magic get Tyreke Evans in return.

Or, just keep Calderon for his Expiring to free up cap space or buy Calderon out to save a mil or two this year of which he will make back signing with a Playoff Contender. Boom, Magic save up to $10 mil right off the bat. Rich bastards.

Yeah, sorry guys, that was Ed Davis, not BBD. I added him cos he was mentioned in the WT.

I think a Calderon/Jameer PG rotation would work well. Cuts Meer's minutes down, possibly allows him to come in off the bench as a spark. Meer can close out games.

Calderon would do well with JJ, Vuc and Nicholson as offensive options, since they're smart, efficient and move well off the ball.

I really like this trade. I think it would encourage JJ to stick around too and we would be able to pay him seeing as we wouldn't have so much money tied up in the SG position.

Agree with the PG rotation points, good chance for Meer to become the 6th man extraordinaire. We would be weak defensively in the guard rotation though, not too sure how Ross shapes up in that department.

I think the one big thing holding it back.... I doubt the Raps want to give up both Davis and Ross? Thoughts? I hope I am wrong.

Beat me to it. Then JJ to Chicago for rip and a first, Calderon to wherever for a first. Opens up time for Ross and harkless (if afflalo is traded, and gets us firsts for practically nothing)

Yeah, Afflalo is a comparatively cheap replacement offering similar production. They also end up with Ed Davis to give their front court a nice future.

Y! Sources: Final hurdle for a Rudy Gay-to-Toronto deal hinges on third team involvement. http://t.co/P6nCyUh6

Interesting paragraph from that article, it talks about Terrence Ross

In a proposed deal, Memphis would likely receive another young Raptors player and a future draft pick, sources said. The Grizzlies have unsuccessfully tried to pry Raptors rookie Terrence Ross as part of the deal, sources said. Toronto has deemed Ross untouchable in these talks.

Okay, I wouldn't do a trade with them. Getting Terrence Ross was the only reason I would want Orlando to get involved.
