If Adams came out this draft would he go no.1 overall? I think he might...

with no contract or timetable issues?
i'd say top 3, in the mix for the #1 overall pick.
WoW. We stole a legitimate talent if that's the case.
Would mock-draft boards compared him to Dirk?

I don't know if his offensive game is that good. Well I only saw him play a couple of games on TV.

I've watched a half a dozen Real Madrid games this season - the last against Athens was the pits
I am sure its the system and how guard dominant it is , but , its obvious Mirotic has a lot of skill ( and I suspect a vast element of it hasnt been fully realised yet because of 2nd rate guard talent on a C__t of a system that they play that to me doesnt maximise or continue to tap into Mirotic's talent pool.
Financial considerations aside( as to when he will equalise in $'s that will guide his decision as to when to come ) from a Basketball perspective - sooner the better.
I suspect he won't be fully developed when he gets here and will likely need a good 2 years before we see the full actuality
Size and skill is clear though
If he was available this year in the draft without restrictions he's have to be top 3 lock ...likely No 1 IMO
"GarPax played Grab Ass with Mirotic for 5 years and been in Omaha playing Hide the Salami with Doug McBuckets for the 1.5 years and they've developed feelings for him. Well, I say "F feelings and F loyalty!" I want CHIPS! Jerry Krizause

I agree. I had the opportunity to watch one of Mirotic's best games, and it was against Brose Baskets on the road. He had 19 points I believe while playing only 22 minutes. He could have scored 30 points or more had he played more minutes and if he got the ball more often. He scored from the post, transition, put-backs, and set-shots. He looks a little weak and could definitely need more strength. He moves pretty well and has decent footwork. He works hard on the defense, but still needs work. He definitely has all-star potential at the NBA level.
I agree that his true potential has not been tapped yet. He's the most gifted scorer in their team, but for the fact the wings are first option, Mirotic offensive opportunities are limited. I know they compare him to Ryan Anderson, but I don't see it because he's not afraid contact. I really see a Dirk in him, the Pre-HOF Dirk that is.

12 by the end of the night.
Btw fun fact, Noel has 94 blocks after 20 games. Anthony Davis had 93 after the same amount of games last year.

This year seems like a good year to draft big at the mid-late first round. My top three bigs for the Bulls at this point are: Jeff Withey, Kelly Olynyk, and Gorgui Dieng.
Withey is probably the best mix of defense and offense of the three. That's why I think he'll be the best fit.
Olynyk is a very interesting prospect. I think his ability to make shots is something I've wanted on the Bulls for along time. Boozer and Olynyk could be the scorers, while Gibson and Noah compliments with their defense.
Dieng would give the Bulls another solid defending, rebounding big.

He doesn't really Reb. One trick pony average rebounder. I'd rather get an all around guy

he'd be the 4th big. i'd be perfectly fine with his one trick since he does it really well. his rebounding rates aren't terrible, plus he's improved his touch and offensive presence around the rim. he's a better offensive player than dieng for example.
a few other bigs who aren't putting up as gaudy numbers but IMO project really well to the NBA are: khem birch, adreian payne and jarnell stokes
khem birch is a former blue chipper who transferred to UNLV this past yr from Pittsburgh. great athlete with very good length, super quick leaping ability and natural shot blocking timing. runs the floor well, has rudimentary post moves and good touch around the rim. his game reminds me of a young kenyon martin's.
payne has stepped up his game lately. thought this yr was gonna be a break out yr for him but he started off slowly, eventually getting benched because he and the other starting big didn't mix well. he's since been reinserted into the starting lineup and has improved his range. good defender, good length. his increased range makes him an intriguing big.
jarnell stokes has had an up and down yr, but i think he gets hurt for playing with a bad team that hasn't been able to shoot all yr. he's a physical beast on the interior. slightly under-height for the PF position but he's 6'8 with a 7'1 wingspan, 270 lbs of granite. hes got dancing bear feet, great hands, tree trunk legs and touch on the interior with good post moves. he's young too since he left HS early. he should be a freshman this yr.

As a 4th big, I think Dieng and Withey both bring shot-blocking, rebounding, alot with a mature defensive game. They'd be able to step in and contribute as a 4th big right away and mesh well with Thib's defensive philosophy. They both don't have much potential on the offensive end though.
I'd like the bulls to draft a big that might not be a great defensive presence right away, but has more offensive upside.
This is what I mean by offensive potential. Looking long term the bulls won't have a big who can score or draw a double in the post. Mirotic is more of a stretch 4, Jo isn't a post player, and Taj has some nice moves but his lack of strength really limits him.
So if the bulls do draft someone like a J. Stokes, he might not contribute right away and have to sit a great deal like Asik. but I really think it'll pay off a few years down the road, if he develops a respectable post game. And with his tools I don't see him being a bad rebounder either.

I would love Burke on this team too!
Burke at the point with Rose at the SG position for spurts would be awesome!

I'd look for under-the-radar bigs in the second round, such as Alex Oriakhi from UConn/Mizzou. Good defender, rebounder, and shotblocker, has bulk, and played for a championship team. Not sure if he has the Taj/Joakim type of footspeed to be able to guard the pick-and-roll like they do, though.

I haven't seen Stokes at all-- I watch way less college basketball than I used to-- but by comparison to people who have transitioned well to the pros, his advanced stats are quite good. If he could just learn to shoot free throws better, his advanced stats would be really good. Don't know whether that'll happen, of course.

Projecting that fourth big is interesting. If you assume Mirotic is coming over, then you have Noah, Taj, and Mirotic, and you need a 4th guy.
On one side, I wonder if they are just going to draft a system guy (like Dieng or Whithey), a big who they project can come in, defend the rim, and grind.
But on the other side, if one of the reasons they let Omer go was that they didn't think Noah/Omer was a pairing that could thrive longterm, then you could look for a 4th big who can own the paint offensively. Because defensively, really it's hard to get better than Noah/Taj: Omer was probably one of the few Cs in the league who could.
Just projecting, but swapping Mirotic for Boozer does open up the paint more, but also decreases your rebounding, especially defensively.
So potentially a guy in the style of Stokes, who plays like a young Z-Bo, could be a good fourth big. Not a rim protector, but a guy you can go to when you need to bully a team on the boards.
But that rotation also screams out for a true 5 to backup Noah, and a big-big would be great too. Makes me wonder if a guy like AJ Hammons from Purdue, or Steven Adams, if he comes out early to get paid, would be worth waiting on to develop.

Since a bunch of teams have Hardaway Jr. dropping to the second round, I say we draft Mike Muscala with our first then trade our 2nd and cash or Rip for an early 2nd rounder to teams like Cavs, Suns, Grizzlies, or kings..
