Kobe Johnson shows us what a pass-first threat can do for a team:
1. Make the offense better by getting the ball to players in their optimal spots
2. Make the defense better by decreasing turnovers and transition points, (which often swing games)

After averaging 14 assists and 3 turnovers in those two wins, he even jokingly called himself "Kobe Johnson."
With Dwight Howard and Steve Nash still not 100% and Pau Gasol struggling with his role in Mike D'Antoni's offense, Kobe is the only Lakers star comfortable getting his own shot at any time. By embracing a more pass-first role, he allows everyone else to get going offensively, which, in turn, improves the Lakers defensively by cutting down on the number of turnovers and transition points allowed.

Do you wish the Pistons could ever realize the value of a pass-first player that can also score?
Do you hope that Joe D could one day fall out of love with combo guards?
Most pass first players fill a role at the 1 or the 3? What efficient passing, turnover decreasing player that can also score do you think would help the Pistons out most? What's most realistic?

Jose Calderon?
Trey Burke?
3s
Otto Porter?
Solomon Hill?

Kobe Johnson: what a pass first threat can do for a team
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.

fyi i think Otto Porter would help out most because he's also the best defender,
but I think Trey Burke is the most realistic because he will be available in the draft for cheap.

If I had to pick one I'd want Calderon as our back-up PG...We need to draft a SG this summer...

I'd take Calderon as my starting PG. I think he would better next to Drummond and be able to get him the ball. I'd than eithe rmove Knight to SG, 6th man or trade him for SG help we need in the form of a guy not named JJ Redick.
