Where do we go from here?
We've got many threads out their and there seems to be conversations about our future in each thread.
We currently have
Calderon/Bynum
Knight/Stuckey/English
Singler/Maggette/Jonas/Middleton
Monroe/Max/CV
Drummond/Slava
Next year we will have
Knight/???
???/Stuckey/English
???/Singler/Middleton
Monroe/CV/Jonas
Drummond/Slava
We can waive Stuckey and amnesty CV
If we did...
Knight/???
????/????/English/Middleton
???/Singler
Monroe/???/Jonas
Drummond/Slava
What do we do?

Re: Where do we go from here?
want: W.Chandler/ Shumpert/ Mayo/ Brewer/galinari. one or more of them at 2/3 dont have any ideas on 1 or 4. i think its clear currently that knight plays well on the break at speed and would b good to have some accompanying player for those moments. i have thought 4 a while of maybe picking up Kenyon martin at reserve 4.. defence and boards with a nice mid range shot...could maybe mentor drummond as he was a similar kind of player

Re: Where do we go from here?
Trade Monroe
Don't resign Calderon unless he commits to back-up role (I dont think he does so... bye bye)
Cut Stuckey, Kravstov
Amnesty Villanueva
Resign Maxiell on a cheap deal
I'll love to trade Monroe to the Pelicans, he is a good fit there next to Davis and they have good pieces for making a trade work, a potential top5 pick, Aminu, Darius Miller... nice role players
If NOLA wants to, I'd swap Monroe for his pick and draft Anthony Bennett, then I'd get Otto Porter with Pistons's pick, I'll try to draft a big man with the 2nd round pick, like LNogueira, Kadji, CJefferson...
Try to get Tyreke Evans, I'll throw him 50m$ and hope that Sacto doesnt match
Sign a back-up PG like Jarrett Jack/Devin Harris and a shooter like Redick/Korver
Sign a veteran PF/C like Landry/Hansbrough/Diaw
Sign a 3rd PG, vet one, like Watson/Tinsley that can distribute the ball if he's needed
Save the rest of the money, dont sign players to long deals (only Evans)

Trade for Wilson Chandler, draft a SG, sign a defensive PF/C, try to resign Calderon to a decent back-up PG deal, and keep the rest of the money in savings...

It could look like this
Knight-Jack-Tinsley
Evans-Redick-English
Singler-Porter-Middleton
Bennett-Landry-Jerebko
Drummond-Maxiell-Kadji
For example.

Long term starter should be Porter, but being a rookie he would be in the bench at first.
Bennett could play right away, his offensive game is pretty and finesse.

It's not time to get any younger IMO. It's time to find 23-26 year old pieces to complete our core.

WTF do we want to trade Monroe? Makes 0 sense to me, especially for what you're asking back in return

Detroit vs. Everybody

We need to make a trade for a defensive SF that can shot the ball...I think Wilson Chandler or Iggy should be in our planner...

Re: Where do we go from here?
I like going after Iguodala. But I read he wants to stay in DEN and is expecting big money, so probably a no.
Its going to be interesting to see what we do with all the capspace. I really dont love any of the FAs though. I think the best scenario might be use $5-7/mil of it to resign Calderon (if he works out this year), and then just sit on the cap space and wait for trades.
The crazy thing is, if we bring Stuckey and CV back, not only will we have $35 mil in cap space, but an additional $16 mil in exp contracts again next year, which will become great trade assets.
Options galore for Dumars. He can basically go after any player he wants this summer. It might sound crazy, but he could even be positioning himself to make an offer to CP3. We have the capspace now. And can make a strong sell with 2 great young bigs like Drummond and Monroe to play with. In addition to our proven ability to win championships that LAC can't offer.
All I know is this season just got really exciting, and the summer should be even more exciting. Great time to be a Piston fan

Detroit needs some vets, that's right, but the greater need is players that fits the team, role guys that can work with Drummond and Knight, and a 1on1 talent for the perimeter, right now the Pistons hasnt any guy like that.
Evans will be 24/25 next year, he fits the need and his age is right.
But the FA is bad, and Monroe is a problem, so why dont look at the draft? yes, it's a weak class, but it has some good role players, that could be really good for the Pistons and could grow here as part of the main core.

Clippers can, and will offer, Paul a max, and they can offer 5 years and more money than Detroit.
No way Paul leaves LA and all that money to play with Monroe, who is way worse than Griffin, and Drummond, who is still a project and way to young to fit with Paul plans to win a title.

Re: Where do we go from here?
^We agree on one thing. I like Evans too. I'd be willing to commit a small portion of our capspace to him. I don't exactly know where he'd fit right now. But I feel like we could eventually fit him somewhere because he can play all 3 perimeter spots. So just getting him here and continuing to add to our talent base would be a positive move.

Chandler is being hold by injuries and his contract under the new CBA is an awful one, you just dont waste 6-7m$ on role players, those contracts are going to be awful in the long term.
Iguodala is too expensive.
Porter is a great role player, and a awesome defender, smart, long arms, can play the 2guard, good shooter, needs to work on his quickness, but he is a good project and can help the team from day one.
He's a Batum/Prince/Marion type of SF.

The Clippers winning a championship? Thats funny lol
I agree Griffin is better than Monroe, but not sure if he's better than Drummond. In fact, I'll say if Paul wants to play with the big with best lob ability, its Drummond, not Griffin.
Drummond is proving capable of dominating right now. I don't think he would hold Paul back from winning anything. The Clippers being the Clippers is what will hold him back from winning it all.
