Re: shump is the new landry
They are similar in that their coaches have a raging hard on for them, and have made their position in the starting line up seem like a birth right.
I think he will be a very good NBA player, but he has no business being in the starting line up right now. Especially not off an ACL injury. Mike Woodson is an absolute tool when it comes to his lineups, and throwing Shump into the fire like this is not fair to him. He should be allowed to be eased into the games, until he gets his game back.

Yep. Shumpert is under-performing thus far. Nobody is saying that once you say Iman is playing bad that he'll play bad forever. Stop being children. He's not playing well now. Own it.

or will the excuses be that it's been only 5 games ?
It will be a hell of a lot more appropriate then.

Shump hasn't been a lockdown defender. Remember... he was only a rookie last year... he wasn't some vet proven to be a great stopper.
Then again he is coming off knee surgery and isn't in top form.
Shump is the new landry (a good rookie with a lot of upside who eventually disappoints himself to Canada) isn't as crazy as you homo's are making it seem.

SHENANIGANS!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're BS'ing. You know full well that anything said during the first month of the season is subject to ridicule for being premature. AND... Shump is a fan favorite. He'll be loved by people on this board until well after he's been traded. People on this board are still weird over Trevor Ariza.

Re: shump is the new landry
Going into tonight's game Shump was shooting 46% from 3PT. But you'd never know it from a couple posters in this thread. Go figure...

Literally nobody is weird over Ariza.
Secondly, people need to familiarize themselves with this injury. It took Toney Allen nearly 2 years to return to who he was before he tore his ACL defensively. To judge Shump after 5 games is so premature that I feel a new word has to be created to fully encompass how short sighted it is.
Secondly, Shump has been surprisingly good in many areas for someone who hasn't played ball in 8 months. His shot looks much better and he's had definite impact on games, especially since he's only allowed to play in 4 min spurts.
You're cheerleading for a point of view that makes no sense given the circumstances.

I am cheerleading. Thanks for noticing. Seriously.
Someone on the Knicks is playing and playing poorly. He's being called out in this thread. It's that simple. He may get better, he may still be feeling the injury, he may be able to give a chic a facial from a block away..... nonetheless... he's playing poorly.
I have high expectations for Iman Shumpert. I think he'll end up being a journeyman like Barnes, but more of a defensive player. That's how I view him. (I capitalized "i" for you guys)

I'm all for pointing out the negatives (there are many) this team has and I understand why you feel annoyed that people insult others for pointing out those negatives. I feel the same way. I like to be realistic about the team and not just heap praise and ignore the facts.
The thing is, though, that this isn't something to be complaining about. You have to know how to pick your spots. You're touching on a subject of an injured player and making an issue out of the fact that he hasn't played well in 5 games since his return. The injury is serious. It's not some run-of-the-mill injury and it takes a long time to recover from it. Shumpert needs, at the very least, the rest of this season to be 100%. He is not 100%. His game is not where it needs to be. It will take a while before he can return to what he can be.
I mean if Derrick Rose comes back and isn't playing well are you going to start saying he's done and should retire? It's an ACL injury. Just stop it.

In comparison to stat playing more. (shumpert is not the DPOY you guys think he is.)

then don't play him... it brings the rest of the team down.

He's healthy, just not back to pre-injury form. No amount of not playing will get him there. Only playing.
He shouldn't be playing 20 mins a game?
Who should be getting his minutes?
