Giving Kyle some deserved love.

Post#1 » by parson » Thu Jan 31, 2013 7:23 am

If we're going to spend time on Grantland.com's negative treatment of Josh Smith, shouldn't we spend at least a little time on the POSITIVE article that shows a great fact about Korver?

I'm talking about this link: http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-trian ... ers-so-far which shows who is best from 3 from each area of the arc. Guess what? Kyle Korver's not mentioned on even one of the categories. Know what that means? It means our guy, who is the best 3pt shooter in the NBA, is doing it from ALL OVER THE PLACE. How's that for fantastic shooting? It's not a question of teams forgetting Korver's favorite spot, it's Korver hitting from anywhere.

To me, that makes him even more amazing this year.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

GREAT point, parson.

KK has exceeded all of my wildest expectations this year. He's become a steady, consistent weapon for us and a crowd favorite as well. I hope to see him re-signed this summer and as a staple of the Hawks three point attack for years to come.

Last night was a perfect example of what Kyle does on a nightly basis. AL was left wide open for the game winning layup because of all the attention given to Korver. On the defensive end, his hustle and strong TEAM defense allowed him to poke the ball away leaving Toronto in scramble mode to get a shot up before the buzzer.

Also, I think he kicked a Toronto player in the forehead which is hilarious and awesome.

Me and KK =

His team defense has improved so much after that abysmal start of the season, I completely love the guy and didn't even pause when he was in the game for the final defensive play agaisnt the Raptors(although it was mind numbingly stupid of Drew...I was okay with it).

His shooting is just plain special. If they gave him the "miller special" offense he would easily be a 20+ point per game scorer in this league and honestly with our bigs high low game, a few of our players ability to set solid screens and passing ability, I wouldn't be opposed to going to it more often in the halfcourt offense. What happened on that last play against Toronto could be a common occurance if we tweaked the offense instead of going to Smith on the block.

'Miller Special' would indeed be a wise strategy when KK is in the game.

An important complement to a three point attack is a strong, consistent post thread.

I'm just saying, Pau Gasol on the block passing to out to a wide open Korver could be a thing of beauty. Pau could score one-on-one against any center in the East (not named Tyson). You double him, you pay.

I love what Korver has done this season, I gave him some heat early on because of a few mini slumps but he has really gotten it together, my dad had the best quote about him when we were watching him light up the Celtics, he said: "This is just like when I use to watch Drazen Petrovic play, fast jump, fast release, and he lit teams up." Korver has been special this season and it will be a shame if we don't resign him, just think about how much more freedom he'd have with no Josh taking useless Jumpers

ATL don't get confused in thinking that there are alot of bigs that can make the passes to hit Korver for those shots like Smith has either.

Fair enough. Josh is a pretty good passer. There are other players: SG, SF who can pass as well.

I will miss Josh's passing, particular the High/Low game with AL.

I still want him gone, though.

If the Hawks can get Dwight, even with Kyle's defensive limitations, Korver could end up being a better teammate for Dwight than either Rashard Lewis or Hedo.

Yeah because Rashard and Hedo were all defensive 1st teams and all...
